And I cannot decide whether to go for:

Calf fitted ones that are functional like this:
nice and look comfortable

or these
am to drawn to them even though not sure I like them!

or just go for something middle of the road but still with a heel
something like these

OR

just get some fashionable biker style boots that are much cheaper and I can just throw away and buy some more next year (though I have skinnier than average legs so not sure that is a look I can pull off at all)

the first ones are the best I think.... terribly wasteful to buy boots knowing that you'll throw them away, imagine what the school gate fleece brigade would say!!

Probably the first ones. Although i do like the second also, i understand what you mean by drawn to them!, would look good with the black and white florals that are around to offset them.

I'd like a new pair of boots, but I am somewhat obsessively compulsively unable to buy any. I've been wearing one black suede pair since I was 18 (am now 31), and just keep getting them resoled. I can't find another pair as nice; and now I'm weirdly attached and superstitious about them... What to do? ...

i got a pair of ankle boots from t'charity shop last year for a fiver. I do know that autumn boots passion but you really don't have to buy them, you know that.

I too have a pair of boots (knee-high, heeled, suede, black) that I bought when I was 21. Zips have been replaced, heels and soles redone and they are still with me. Cost a 'fortune' at the time, for my uni-student pockets ($250 Aussie dollars) but worth every penny

My existing boots are more than 3 years old and are looking a bit shabby (they are suade)

If I could find nice calf-fitting boots at less than £100 then that would be great! However, I would never buy plastic, and hardly any knee length leather boots are that cheap regardless.

And to those of you who think it is mad to spend money I have not got on boots, well that is true, but I can hardly keep wearing summer shoes and office heels for 'out with buggy' can I? (just for comfort reasons alone) And besides, cheap footwear is a well-known false economy.

I have no money. Therefore I will not even be looking at boots that cost that much. You must have money to even consider them.

I have no money so I am not going to be buying any boots until I have Ebayed enough stuff to pay for them. Even then, if I make nearly £200 I wouldn't spend it all on one pair of boots for me.

I am beginning to realise how 'I have no money' can means very different things to different people.

Puppy if I had some last years boots I would be fine with that. And if mine even kept out the bare minumum of rain shower then ok, they would do. But I spent most of last year with damp feet (or wearing my mountain walking full waterproof with massive grips and full ankle support boots)

I really do wish that duo were having a sale, or even someone had a discount code! Or if any of you knows when they have a regular sale, then that could be an option....[hopeful emoticon]

I thought Duo boots were wider on the calve? If you've skinny ones they won't do.

Of course everyones definitions of having no money are different.
There was a thread yesterday where a woman said she was struggling on £2k disposable income a month, a bit more than we have in this house, understatement.
Personally I love the style threads as fantasy shopping is fun, as is judging and it gives me some ideas for when my business finally starts paying me some money.

So, I guess I am getting things now that would last me through the lean years of being self employed. If I buy boots, I still want to be wearing them for a long time, obviously I would have to look after them (but I do that anyway, have 2 pairs of lovely LK bennet shoes that are 8 years old and are still going strong)

Just thinking about it, the first ones have more of a moulded sole, I don't think I could have that re-soled at all. I guess I could only hope the sole is robust and lasts for ages (but then I walk alot, so perhaps that is just wishful thinking)
