expatinscotland · 13/05/2005 20:41

i agree, mancmum - laura mercier tinted moisturiser in nude is a fixture in my summer make-up bag.

LGJ · 13/05/2005 20:43

Clarins

Moisturiser.
Foundation
Powder
Eyeshadow
Mascara
Blusher
Lipliner
Lipstick

I am that Clarins girl

paolosgirl · 13/05/2005 20:45

Mascara, lipgloss, foundation and blusher - and my anti-wrinkle cream that has it's work cut out. I'm not fussy which brand of make-up - some good stuff and some cheap stuff.
My absolute favourite can't-live-without are my heated eyelash curlers - wonderful wonderful things

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2005 20:45

My 4 desert island things would be
foundation - have a new one from Fresh and Wild, Living Nature IIRC, could be wrong but I like it
Touche Eclat
mascara (think 2000 cal is good)
lip gloss that could double as blusher
I think foundation is the thing you're lacking sophable. I fnid the Benefit High Beam a bit too glittery, except for browbone so I prefer Body Shop Glow enhancer, people often say 'oh you look glowing' when I wear it.

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2005 20:45

But actually, I look like crap atm so don't listen to me!

expatinscotland · 13/05/2005 20:46

paolo
i'm interested in purchasing a heated eye lash curler, b/c some of my lashes actually grow downwards. what kind do you have and why do you like it?

hotmama · 13/05/2005 20:49

I'm a Prescriptives girl - but do use the Max Factor Calorie 2000 mascara.

Heated eyelash curlers -ooooh scary - I'd be far toooo scared!

paolosgirl · 13/05/2005 20:52

Expat - they are Curl by Blinc. Ruby and Milly sell them at Boots for about £22, but they are ripping you off, so beware! I bought them from a place called Oakwood Remedies for £13.99, via the web.
I've got v. long, v. straight eylashes, but with these things, they're still curling up by the end of the day. You just put on your mascara, wait til it dries, then run these things over them.

lavenderrr · 13/05/2005 20:53

a maybelline mascara
bodyshop glitter
a home made face lotion (not by me mind)
and tweezers
wear nothing else..but good to replace mascara every 6 months and have brushes to put lipstick on with, etc

bad to wash with soap and water, even a Boots facial wash or scrub with cucumber is better than nothing....be aware of expensive sounding products...they are not all that they seem....just use a facial scrub every day/week depending on product and as for anti-wrinkle creams a waste of money...use lard no really nivea good and just clean every night and day and drink about 8 glasses of water, 5 portions of fruit and veg and exercise 20 mins 3 times a week, no amount of creams will make up for lack of looking after oneself....oh and spend time choosing products, me time.....(can you tell been on own most of day)

expatinscotland · 13/05/2005 20:53

Thanks, paolo! I've been looking at different brands, and have concluded that heated is the way to go.

paolosgirl · 13/05/2005 20:54

Oh, and you never get burned because they have a little guard on them to stop you touching your eyelids with them, and they don't heat up to a really high temperature.

I have packed in the Touche eclat, as it was drying out my already dry skin.

vickiyumyum · 13/05/2005 21:23

i have too much make up to list it all, but my favourites at the moment are

dior addict lip gloss
beneift bad girl lash for daytime
ysl false lash effect mascara for evening
fcuk eye crayon in brown (eye liner)
bebefit tinted moisturiser
benefit dr feel good (make up base stops shine)
clarins concealer (like touche eclat)
clinique eye shadow colour surge

for skin care i use clinque wipes, as to lazy to take my make up off any other way.
Benefit Dear John moisturiser
Clarins normalizing night gel (to stop the oiliness on my t-zone!)
i use a facial scrub once a week and a face mask once a fortnight, but i normally just pick up a sachet from boots rather than spend a fortune on them.

darlingbud · 13/05/2005 21:26

a trowel is my essential item.

Prufrock · 13/05/2005 21:41

Darphin (from Space NK) is great skincare stuff.

My daily make up is just mascara, nude lip gloss (Ruby and Millie atm I think)and my wonder product - Stila All over shimmer, which goes on eyes and cheeks. Whole thing takes 2 minutes, but looks natural with a fresh dewy glow.

Skribble · 13/05/2005 21:51

Any tips on the best way to cover different skin pigmentation. Above my top lip is getting darker and darker and even with makeup I look like I have a moustash? .

Plus I have lots of red blothchy scars around my chin from acne. Anything that will help cover up or would you recommend laser treatment or something.
