Botox!

I'm thinking about it ladies.
Has anyone here had botox and did you experience any ill effects after?
I have dodgy sinuses and am paranoid about a toxin being injected into that area. But I really fancy a bash at the botox, so please name change if you must, but tell me all about it.

I know someone who had it recently and I have to say ahe looks a bit odd (and didn't need it anyway, IMO)

It's just weird watching someone talk to you when they can't move their forehead... we convey so much through facial expression

Bf had it done and I must admit, he does look more rested now. (Yes, that was he.) Rested, natural and (gah!) less lined than me!

BUT the thing about botox is you must keep it up. I met a lovely boy (yes, another he) who had run out of botox pocket money and he showed me his sharpei like forehead. he vowed that it was because botox freezes the muscles and if you stop, it gets really wrinkly.

Well, maybe it was something else that had done the damage, but I must admit he put me off.

One of my friends has had it. At first it was just on her 'number 11's and her forehad lines. She has since had it all around her hairline, around her eyes and will soon have it round her mouth too. She does look 'softer' but...

It's a slippery slope, I reckon.

My friend comes from a family of 'interventionists' however.

Her DP had a nose job (wonky) , her MIL had lip fillers,and her SIL had a boob job (without her dh's knowledge)

summerbabe - no; his forehead was actually in folds. Who knows, though, maybe it was something else.

Mrsmaidamess makes a good point about the slippery slope, the "ooh, I'll just have that too" syndrome. It's a definite phenomenon.

Are you sure about botox, though? Someone I met was talking about, ermm, (racks brains) something else, beginning with "r". Though I don't know anyone who's had it.

The problem with Botox also is that if you paralyse one area of muscles then the surrounding ones are going to work even harder to compensate

I have sort of thought about Botox before (had a mini-freak-out about my Number 11s)

Can't go there though

good point. the furniture on my face needs a remodel as they'd say in the states.

I wouldn't go for major surgery, but frown lines are so grumpy. I don't like them cos they make you look cross and grouchy. Nothing to do with age. I had that vertical line between my eyes worse when I was younger, but I have trained myself not to furrow my brow all the time.

it's the frown line that pisses me off, I look like a grumpy old cow.

I know I would never resort to full on surgery either. I have had the saggiest 32dd's since having dc 10 years ago, as much as I hate them I am too petrified to get them lifted and reduced. I have this irrational fear I will not wake up from the operation.

that's not vanity imo. it's wanting to come across as the cheerful person you really are.

mind you, there's a lily cole inside me trying to get out!!! that would be a BIG job for the surgeon.

My great-aunt used to have a procedure every 2 yrs; often couldn't smile for 6months So it puts me off - well that & Amanda Holden. Fillers are the way to go if you believe the schleb twaddle, but no idea how/if they are different from botox.
