Botox!

I'm thinking about it ladies.
Has anyone here had botox and did you experience any ill effects after?
I have dodgy sinuses and am paranoid about a toxin being injected into that area. But I really fancy a bash at the botox, so please name change if you must, but tell me all about it.

I don't get how it can get rid of no11s?

If I could afford it I would get my 11s done but not worried about crows feet.

I am 47 -I should have crows feet fgs.

I didn't have wrinkles until I was about 42 .

Subcutaneous fat is the answer

can someone put my mind at rest on whole botox thing? m 3 just want to look well and not knackered. Have booked an appointment for 16th Oct but am terrified of ending up with alien eyes, trout pout etc. No I should not be so vain but look after myself in other ways (hair, gym etc) so why not this? Reassurance please.....

I had a fringe cut last week in order to put off the Botox/ Restylane thing a while longer ... I don't have any visible lines but bet they're lurking ...

Fringe looks ace!!

I'm feeling sold on the idea now. Wrinkles, crows feet wouldn't/don't bother me, it's purely the frown lines. Any side effects ronaldinho?

yeah, I have a frown line you could grow potatoes in

botox makes me look like I've had sleep and am serene and happy
(not sarky, knackered and tired delete as applicible)

Ive had frown lines done before, loved it, especially for summer when squinting a lot. I only had it the once as I got pregnant, but would love to do it again, just to not look grumpy all the time! I had no side effects, nobody would have known if i hadnt mentioned it to them. A good friend of mine had very deep frown lines which made her look very grumpy/unhappy and she's been getting botox for about 2 yrs and it makes such a difference. The lines havent gone completely though, but have relaxed a lot and she literally looks like a nicer person.

No headaches, lines between the eyebrows completely gone and have never returned !!

Was a bit light headed after the first time, but think it was the shock (crapping it) and not having eaten anything. Cup of tea and a biccy and I was as right as rain though.

I just had a nose at your profile and you're the same age as me. I was really hoping to see a full frontal to check in between the eyebrows.
Did you get headaches or anything after lilaclaire?

I've had botox several times and can dispel some myths!!
Your surrounding muscles do not work harder to compensate.
Your wrinkles do not come back worse than before if you run out of 'botox pocket money'.

Im not having it done right now (and it is needed) as im having my face done regularly with ipl to get rid of thread veins and don't have enough money to stretch to both.

The first time you get it done you should see a big difference as its most noticible. It doesn't make you look odd, unless you get too much and you get a completely frozen face, talk to your doc/nurse about this before they start sticking the needle in.

First time, it should last about 3 months, starts to last longer and longer the more you get it done. You get used to not using those muscles, so you do kind of train yourself in a way not to use them.

Its great (ime) for all forehead lines and crows feet.

I cannot wait until I can get some more, so there (sticking out tongue emotion)

Haven't fillers led us to the term 'pillow-face'?

(I read Grazia, can you tell?)

Report

My great-aunt used to have a procedure every 2 yrs; often couldn't smile for 6months So it puts me off - well that & Amanda Holden. Fillers are the way to go if you believe the schleb twaddle, but no idea how/if they are different from botox.

that's not vanity imo. it's wanting to come across as the cheerful person you really are.

mind you, there's a lily cole inside me trying to get out!!! that would be a BIG job for the surgeon.

summerbabenot · 01/06/2009 20:21

I know I would never resort to full on surgery either. I have had the saggiest 32dd's since having dc 10 years ago, as much as I hate them I am too petrified to get them lifted and reduced. I have this irrational fear I will not wake up from the operation.

it's the frown line that pisses me off, I look like a grumpy old cow.

good point. the furniture on my face needs a remodel as they'd say in the states.

I wouldn't go for major surgery, but frown lines are so grumpy. I don't like them cos they make you look cross and grouchy. Nothing to do with age. I had that vertical line between my eyes worse when I was younger, but I have trained myself not to furrow my brow all the time.

notnowbernard · 01/06/2009 20:13

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I like the 'fresh' feel it gives

I think we need a [sucker] emoticon
