How many bras is normal?

plimple · 24/05/2009 21:38

Normally when I get new bras it is to add them to others, but today when I bought maternity ones I just bought 2 and intend to wear them alone for the next 4 months. Is that skanky?

I only have 2 bras. One white, one black.
Dring my pregnancies, I had only 2 mat bras and just washed every few days. It's not skanky.

FabulousBakerGirl · 24/05/2009 21:46

I have numerous normal bras but when I was pg and bf I had 4 as I knew I would wear them for more than 9 months or so.

I wear a clean bra every day.

plimple · 24/05/2009 21:48

I think when I was at university I thought you had to change them every day like knickers. It was a revelation to discover that I could wear them for days on end!

FBG are they all lovely and with matching knickers? One day, that will be me!

Some are.

Pre kids Dh would buy me a new matching set most months.

I have tonnes of pants. Too many really. Got a cute new pair yesterday too and would get the matching bra but I would guess it doesn't come in my size.

mosschops30 · 24/05/2009 21:52

i have 3 normally, with 3 matching pants per bra, so they get worn for 3 days (the bras not the pants ).

But 2 will do for maternity bras, I cant be arsed to buy more

plimple · 24/05/2009 22:15

Wow mosschops, that's very precise!
New matching sets bought for me? Only in a purple tinted dream future!

I have 6 bras, but only wear 3 of them regularly. Any matching is purely by accident.

HeavyweightChampion · 24/05/2009 22:20

40

HeavyweightChampion · 24/05/2009 22:22

40 is actually not that normal. No. It is too many.

ThingOne · 24/05/2009 23:31

I have four that fit at the moment. Two black, two white. When pg I rarely had more than one that fitted comfortably at ant given time. I'm very short so my rib cage got a lot of angst, never mind the swelling bosoms themsleves .

feedthegoat · 24/05/2009 23:40

I have 9 in regular wear and a strapless one that gets worn about twice a year (as I don't do glam very often ). I am fairly ruthless about throwing away the one I don't wear.

MamaHobgoblin · 25/05/2009 10:33

I have 4 breastfeeding bras that I live in - two pink Royce ones, one white and one black one. Am fed up to back teeth of them. I think that 4 is the bare minimum really - I don't wash after each wear (they'd have worn away to shreds by now!) but I want to wear a black bra with a dark top, white with light etc, so they're generally all in use at the same time.

Oh, and I have a precious Freya bra that I wear on my days off bf!

howtotellmum · 25/05/2009 11:14

I have 4-5 which is a lot for me- 2 nude, one black, one white, and one cream...all padded T shirt bras except the cream one which is slightly more "decorative".

crokky · 25/05/2009 12:26

It's fine - I only have 2 - I have a black one and a lime green one . Both are totally plain and sometimes the knickers will "match" if they are plain black as well. It's not skanky at all. I had more bras when I used to breastfeed as had to wash them more frequently for leaks!

frAKKINPannikin · 25/05/2009 12:59

I have 7 standard, 1 strapless and 1 sport.

Most have matching knickers which go with them but rarely actually match!

jemart · 26/05/2009 00:01

Did have lots but have recently purged any that do not fit anymore/are worn out/never get used and am down to 3 pretty, 2 plain and have just ordered two more lovely HOTmilk nursing bras that were reduced in the sale.

Tortington · 26/05/2009 00:04

i have loaaaaaads

Acqua · 26/05/2009 02:59

I've got 6 - get them cheaply from Marks and Sparks - basic cotton and very comfortable. I do soo much washing every day that I find 6 is enough so that I have a clean one (or two) every day. My darling baby sometimes dribbles all over my clean bra - bless .
Oh and breast pads also help keep your bra clean for longer during the day - my favourites were the Tommee Tippee ones as they're a bit more cushioned than the Lansinoh ones. Cushioning is very important with sore nipples in the early weeks [ouch]!

nooka · 26/05/2009 05:31

I have about five, which get worn once in a blue moon. I had 3 pregnancy/nursing bras, and lots of pads! Sometimes I wore the inserts from ds's cloth nappies too (lots of leaking went on!)

Flame · 26/05/2009 08:02

I have had just 2 for the last 2 years. I am now up to about 6 () because I managed to get some from a friend, some in M&S (which never happens) and my much loved feeding bra when I first got pregnant.

I plan on a second one of the hot milk bras when the baby actually comes.

To answer the question though - as long as they are washed, it isn't a problem.

Podrick · 26/05/2009 16:46

I have 6 recently purchased bras that fit well & have matching knickers thanks to the recent M&S bra promotion .

Plus a few more that don't fit so well that I have had longer.

My new bras cost £6 each so in total £36 - if you are a big norker I guess one bra would cost the same as my 6!!??

PortBlacksandResident · 26/05/2009 17:09

I have a best black bra, a second best black bra and two not so best black bras. I have a best white bra and a second best white bra. I have a best cream bra and a second best cream bra. I have nice knickers to match best bras but not the others - they have to make do with the same colour but not matching.

I could never wear none colour matching undies - it would upset me too much.

digitalgirl · 26/05/2009 17:16

2 maternity bras is fine for now - you may change size again then you'll have to buy more. I've got 4 nursing bras and still run out when I haven't done enough laundry (but am working part-time so that's my excuse). Should probably buy more but don't intend to be breastfeeding full-time beyond the next 3 months.

Saving my pennies for some lovely new post-feeding bras with my new bigger, saggier boobs!

angelene · 26/05/2009 17:33

1 white, 1 cream, 1 black, 1 sport, 1 strapless. 2 basques

All (apart from the sport one) are Rigby & Peller and I usually get one a year now, so I spend a lot of time handwashing
