I have massive self confidence issues at the moment (BF 7mth old baby, carrying excess baby weight etc etc) and have no idea what to wear. The do is a meal followed by a cocktail masterclass at a posh cocktail bar.

I'm a 14 at the moment, pear shaped, bit flabby all over and 5'4".

Help!

Oh and outfit must be cheap

I shall watch this with interest as I have an identical situation with identical activities planned later in the year!

Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 18:39

Well, first of all, what have you already got that we could work with? Any skirts or dresses, what type of shoes do you have or do you need those too?

I'd suggest a skirt and nice top, dress, or jeans with a nice longish dress top over it.

Hi Pennies

What would u feel comfortable wearing?

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 18:42

OK, well most clothes don't fit as I am a size bigger at least than pre-preg

I do have a 60s style black lace dress from Monsoon that I bought for DSs christening. Shoes wise I have everything silver strappy sandals, knee high boots, platforms, court shoes, ballet pumps. Plus I have one pair of fitted boot cut, dark blue jeans.

I'd feel comfortable in nothing too short maybe smart jeans with a nice top? I do love wearing dresses though and love being uber glam!

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 18:44

Ecellent that you've got the shoes!

Ok, let's see, can you link to the dress?

What colours suit you? What colour hair and skin etc have you got?

Then I can start looking

Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 18:47

Ok, you could do the whole dress over jeans thing, but it might be a little too casual for your glam night!

What shops do you usually shop in?

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 18:48

Um will try and upload a photo onto my profile.

I have got shoulder length dark brown hair, blue/grey eyes and an English complexion I look good in bright colours like red, blue, turquoise, pink, look ill in anything pale.

not sure what you like/feel comfortable in but here are a few dress suggestions based on your info!

could be dressed up with accessories

if you not happy showing arms, wear a shrug. I've tried to find structured dresses to "keep it all in" !!

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 18:51

Clure - I like something like the last dress, arms are an issue - never used to be, why has pregnancy given me flabby arms

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 18:51

I like this I know it's black so a bit boring but what do you think?

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 18:53

I am a shop whore, anything goes!

However I like Oasis, H&M, Monsoon, Topshop, Warehouse and occasionally New Look.

I dislike Next intensely!

OP posts:
Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 18:54

I like the style of it but I quite like colour ordinarily

What would I wear it with?

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 18:55

Clure's tulip one is good, I'd steer clear of ones like the first link though, a bit mumsy

Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 18:56

I guess for a black dress you'd need to accessorise with colour then

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 18:57

Gawd I used to be achingly cool what happened?? How did I lose my way so badly

OP posts:
Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 19:00

I like this colour

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 19:01

baby brain lol

Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 19:03

lovely colour, don't you like the dress though?

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 19:06

Worried it would be a bit short and the sleeves are quite revealing?

Is it worth investing in a decent bra and support pants??

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 19:10

yes deffo worth investing in good supportive underwear.

Ok, how about this with jeans?

Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 19:11

a little cardi or a pashmina to cover your arms?

Monkeyandbooba · 18/05/2009 19:16

Yes I love that one, is it dressy enough for a posh bar/club?

Can you tell it's been years since I went anywhere like this!

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 19:19

Yep I thinkit's dressy enough, with smart jeans and the right shoes and accessories, it will look fab.

It's hard isn't it? We need Cod back, she was good at this sort of thing.
