how will it really pan out.

What looks do you want to see yourself working( girlfrien') and what do you KNOW will go wrong.

a mate texted me the other day about cropped trousers and said " the thign is i cannto accept i am short and have short legs, in my mind i am Elle mcpherson, gazzelle like striding through town, as it is I look likea 12 year old.. in a bad way"

FigmentOfYourImagination · 14/05/2009 19:57

God, I HATE, hate, hate cropped trousers.

Miyazaki · 14/05/2009 19:57

yoyo

I imagine that I look like Charlotte Gainsbourg type and can do that whole boyish gamine thing. White shirts etc. Stripy tops, white vests, pegged chinos, flat mannish shoes.

No. I cannot. It is very hard to bear.

hohoba · 14/05/2009 19:57

well eys that is a point

fishie · 14/05/2009 20:01

i picture myself in nice sharp cotton skirts with an elegant top and sandals. i get up and put on jeans and a tshirt. or a denim skirt and a tshirt.

dressses. i have dresses. why can't i bear to put them on?

PuppyMonkey · 14/05/2009 20:03

I imagine I'm Sienna Miller in wafty boho chic...

I'm not.

I hate cropped trousers. And assymetric (sp) tops.

hohoba · 14/05/2009 20:04

i would like to be crisp
or insouciant.
i am neither

ThePhantomPlopper · 14/05/2009 20:05

I can't find a single dress that hangs the way it should.

I look like i'm wearing a sack.

hf128219 · 14/05/2009 20:06

Chic and elegant - with a quirky twist. I have my own style you see!

That's the thing you have to create a look that is all your own - then when you buy new bits and bobs it works with the rest of your wardrobe.

ThePhantomPlopper · 14/05/2009 20:06

So i shall be in my tailored shorts and hope for sun otherwise the jeans will be back on.

fishie · 14/05/2009 20:06

i look rather good in cropped trousers.

hohoba · 14/05/2009 20:11

i find dresses NIGH on impossibel.
In white stuff today every empire line skimmed across my nipple.
I just rang my mate to remind her how shit i looked and she was stil sniggering.

StripeyOss · 14/05/2009 20:18

i've gone rather colourful and 80's

Being a larger lady, Evans is providing the staple for my wardrobe right now.

I went shopping today (tis my b'day) and came home with

this

this in blue, black and white

this in grey and purple

this in yellow, red and black

and three bat-wing tops in grey, black and purple!

hohoba · 14/05/2009 20:18

a lot of tops!

OP posts:
StripeyOss · 14/05/2009 20:21

you need ''em with sticky fingered toddlers, lmao.

HaventSleptForAYear · 14/05/2009 20:35

Agree we need the weather.

I imagine myself in a knee-length skirt and vest top but it's never warm enough or when it is it corresponds with the week I am waiting to wax my legs.

(how DO others deal with this? My legs look ok for about 10 days but after that I wouldn't inflict them on anyone, but have to wait minimum of 3 weeks to wax again)

So I'm mostly in jeans and a v. boring t-shirt (plus jumper!

HaventSleptForAYear · 14/05/2009 20:38

I also imagine myself in the kaftan type thing over trousers but I just look like I'm drowning or playing dress-up in mummy's dress.

Or that I couldn't make up my mind what to wear that morning so went for trousers AND dress.

OR pregnant because trousers under a long top gives you a bulge where the belt/button is.

fishie · 14/05/2009 20:44

haventslept i epilate all year round.

sleeveless. i hope to look like everyone else in a vest top. instead i look like a walking mattress. giant shoulders.

hf128219 · 14/05/2009 20:45

designersremix.com Get some ideas from this. Look away from the UK High Street for your key look

AnyFucker · 14/05/2009 20:46

haventslept, try shaving

traceybath · 14/05/2009 20:48

I too think i'm 5ft 10 and chic in skinny white jeans and a vest top with a fab bag and shoes.

In reality i'm 5ft and pregnant - due in july.

Have given up on cropped trousers after DH laughed one too many times at me and called me 'lieutenant uhuru'.

MamaHobgoblin · 14/05/2009 20:50

I imagine myself in wafty cotton dresses and the perfect pair of sandals.

What I get: myself in the only cotton frock my massive lactating boobs still fit into (a lentil-weavy Nomads one in XL) and the sensible Clarks velcro sandals I have had since 2002. (and still going strong.)

I also have cropped trousers. I love them. But I am 5'2" and a size 16 and I KNOW they are not a good idea. Sod it, I don't care.

HarryB · 14/05/2009 21:12

I'm going for an "understated" look as I still have 2 stone of baby weight to lose and don't feel confident enough for a new summer look. I think I'll be living in Jeans, simple tops and flat sandals, or if it ever gets hot, long skirts, simple tops and flat sandals . I don't go on holiday either till September and I don't have the energy for fake tan so short skirts are out. I'm not a summer person really and much prefer a winter wardrobe.
