maxi dress

it looks quite eveningy as its strapless but as its in fact cotton could i poss get away with it for daytime without looking utterly mad??? or is the colour also a bit yuck? cant really tell what it might be like in RL iyswim

i am 5ft8, with short blond/ash crazy hair, size 14 with a 12 waist but bad legs hence the love of maxi dresses

Party - yes.

Daywear - no.

belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:00

ps i do love a bit of boho, posh hippy look- i'm afraid its what suits me so if you really hate it maybe you could point me in direction of soemthing else? limit approx £100

Lovely dress, but I am w Fimbo re not really great for daywear, unless you are off to lovely picnic/party/casual wedding. I think its because of the sequins/beading.

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 16:05

Partly and partly too glam looking, imvho. Perhaps I would need to see it in rl.

Fatface had an absolutely fab maxi dress in burnt oranges and brown - sounds hideous but was nice. It was about £65 from memory but is no longer on their website.

pinkmagic1 · 08/05/2009 16:06

Lovely dress for Wedding or christening, not sure about general evening wear though and definitely not daywear.

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 16:07

Maybe you could get away with it for daywear with a nice denim jacket thrown over it and glads.

belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:07

ok let me try another one then....
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN HANKERING AFTER FOR SOOO LONG IT HURTS AND THERE ARE HARDLY ANY LEFT SO AM ALMOST SCRED TO LINK TO IT IN CASE YOU ALL DECIDE TO BUY IT AND THERE ARE NONE LEFT FOR ME

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 16:08

My computer will not let me into that link - what store is it and style?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/05/2009 16:09

that is beautiful bel

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 16:10

I want to see

LittleMissBliss · 08/05/2009 16:12

Ooh that's pretty, but mega bucks + not day wear either.

brimfull · 08/05/2009 16:12

second one is gorgeous

belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:12

IT IS I REALLY REALLY NEED IT. so much so i needed to shout about it. sorry about that. fimbo- its from Baby Ceylon and its the Celine dress. its mucho dinero but i luuurvvvvve it. i haevactually dreamed of it

OP posts:
LittleMissBliss · 08/05/2009 16:13

Personally i think you should get the maxi dress that you first linked to only if you get a few wears out of it. Then e-bay it after, that way you are likely to get some of the money back which is better than it just sitting in your wardrobe.

belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:16

i am rubbish with ebay i always think i will do it but then cant be arsed. i have done so in the past.
i have a couple of baby ceylon things (in fact am wearing one now) andf tehy do suit me- maybe i should just get the second one- its an "investment' right? price per wear its prob a bargain non?
litlemissbliss- do you think it would be stupid as daywear then? even with flip flops and a cardi??

OP posts:
brimfull · 08/05/2009 16:17

2nd one nicer imo

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 16:18

I have the Baby Ceylon site up but cannot find the dress.

belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:19

yes. its double the price. i was trying to find a way to stop myself wanting it by pretending i wanted something else but it aint working

OP posts:
belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:20

bugger. sorry fimbo its cherie not celine.

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 08/05/2009 16:20

like the first but hate the second

with the first you could prob get away with a bolero type top over it for daywear. still a bit posh for day to day though

2nd is very wishy washy in its colour imo

PuppyMonkey · 08/05/2009 16:22

Neither are suitable for daywear imho. Second one looks like a bridesmaid dress to me.

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 16:24

eek, no, no. Please go for the first one. The second looks like a nightie my 70 something mother would wear

FigmentOfYourImagination · 08/05/2009 16:26

More daywear ish

A good day/evening wear compromise

Really pretty but eyewateringly ££££

belcantwait · 08/05/2009 16:27

I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!!!
