Desperately want this skirt. It's very expensive. Tell me I will look like a curtain.

eek

It's just so beautiful.

Ive no clothes, for some reason

I would wear it to death.

I am buying another dress from the sale as amazingly they still haveit and I ruined the one I bought last autumn after millions of wears, by washing too hot when ds was sick on me.

so I am tempted to chuck this into the basket at the same time

but I really can;t afford it
Is it actually more soft furnishing than glamorous?

link does not work!

princessmel · 06/05/2009 18:33

can't see link

InternationalFlight · 06/05/2009 18:33

Oh bugger. It/s Hobbs, called Paulette. Search for Paulette and it's the only thing.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 06/05/2009 18:35

it is repulsive. Frumpy shape. Frumpy fabric and probably a frumpy length to boot

princessmel · 06/05/2009 18:36

It's nice.

Not very everyday though so not sure how you could wear it to death!

And £££

sorry!

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 06/05/2009 18:36

my mum had curtains like that

what would you wear with it??

cocolepew · 06/05/2009 18:37

It's lovely but too expensive (for me)

KirstyJC · 06/05/2009 18:38

Hmm, does have a touch of the 'Grandma curtains' about it! (well, you did ask)

Dottoressa · 06/05/2009 18:39

I love it, and if you'd wear it a lot, it's not that expensive. It's better value than four cheap skirts that you'd end up chucking away after never wearing them...

howtotellmum · 06/05/2009 18:42

Horrible- sorry- unless you are a size 8-10 the gathers will make you look fat and the length is wrong- too long- it's neither short nor calf length.

Print? Not my cup of tea.

might be better in RL- but not worth £99.

FabulousBakerGirl · 06/05/2009 18:43

IMO how old you are would determine what I thought but in reality what I think doesn't matter. If you like it, can afford it and know you will wear it loads buy it.

LetThemEatCake · 06/05/2009 18:47

oh dear, sorry - no no, it's not nice.

Buy a scarf in a similar fabric. It will cost a lot less and you'll be able to wear it a lot more.

saw this one in RL the other day, really very lovely

FlorenceAndtheWashingMachine · 06/05/2009 18:51

My MIL would kill for that skirt, but it might look fab on you if you have the style and attitude to carry it off.

Can you wait until it drops in price even further?

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 06/05/2009 18:53

It really does remind me of old lady curtains sorry!

InternationalFlight · 06/05/2009 19:10

Cheers

Well am a 10 so hopefully would look Okish. Planning to wear (in winter!) with black woolly tights, dark skinny long sleeved t shirt ...hmm length might be too long for knee boots. there is always that knee-boot dilemma.

it is curtainy isn;t it.

Do you think they will reduce it more? The frock I got last year is still the same price!! (abingdon)

everyone loved that though, irl. Lots of comments.

InternationalFlight · 06/05/2009 19:10

abington actually

yes

Morecrumbleplease · 06/05/2009 19:22

It's remarkably similar to the fabric on my mother's sofa, and wouldn't look at all out of place in in this line up

dexter73 · 06/05/2009 19:22

I love that dress. How did you wash it as it says dry clean only? (Just thinking I could get it if I didn't have to get it dry cleaned!)

InternationalFlight · 06/05/2009 19:23

lol

Ok maybe not..!

OP posts:
InternationalFlight · 06/05/2009 19:24

Dexter I just used the 30 wash in the machine. I did it at 40 or 50 as the sick wouldn't shift and it shrank a bit, and the lace went brownish

I couldn't wear it then as it made me too sad. and cross with ds!!

dexter73 · 06/05/2009 19:27

Thanks! I may well have to buy it! How does their sizing run?

Morecrumbleplease · 06/05/2009 19:27

But the 'abington' dress I get totally - is gorgeous

bigTillyMint · 06/05/2009 19:28

Minging

muggglewump · 06/05/2009 19:29

I know nothing about fashion, I often lurk here hoping to learn but if I have to wear similar to that to be fashionable then I give up
Sorry, but it's awful. Curtainly and not nice.

MadamAnt · 06/05/2009 19:31

ROFL at "18 individual colours" being a selling point. Not massively keen on it tbh. It's a bit dull. If they'd only stretched to 19 colours on the other hand....
