Are these shoes too slutty for black tie?

www.office.co.uk/womens/office/please_me/37/5805/15720/1/

I already have champagne silk sandals (karen millen) but I bought a black dress that is very fashionable, this the champagne shoes look a bit too elegant.

But, it is a black tie event after all, so I still want to look more fashion-aware glamerous women than a bit of a slut

Am I better off with a strappy black sandal?

I don't like 'em. Sorry.

Pennies · 27/04/2009 19:49

I wouldn't say that they were ideal for black tie, but I can be quite conservative in my style.

geordieminx · 27/04/2009 19:49

I think they are nice, although not high enough for me. Dont look slutty.

paolosgirl · 27/04/2009 19:50

I think you'd be better off with a pair of strappy sandals - I'm not too keen on these ones. Could you go for a red pair (or another colour) to make the outfit a bit edgier?

The champagne ones sound v. nice...

oranges · 27/04/2009 19:50

I think they are fab.

RaspberryBlower · 27/04/2009 19:51

I like them. But maybe you need to describe the dress.

MadameCastafiore · 27/04/2009 19:53

I think they actually look cheap as a shoe and not slutty - just a cheap pair of shoes.

oranges · 27/04/2009 19:53

can you link to the dress, and the shampagne sandals? (nosy emoticon)

hobbgoblin · 27/04/2009 19:55

Can I rudely give my personal opinion and say they look like something out of Rita Sue and Bob too?

Is that the point, like leggings?

MadameCastafiore · 27/04/2009 19:56

these are nice

MadameCastafiore · 27/04/2009 19:57

Can you post a picture of the dress?

shhhh · 27/04/2009 19:59

don't like them...sorry .
Don't look slutty but not elegant imo..

I saw these however in KM last wek and fell in love totally.
Even more gorgeous IRL. .

paolosgirl · 27/04/2009 19:59

Yep - Annie I like. If you could get them in another colour they'd look fab with a lbd (although black is also good).

sleepwhenidie · 27/04/2009 20:02

I tried these on the other day and they are gorgeous, and much more pink (coral shade) than this photo, where they actually look red...of course not in the sale though . Think they would look fab with a black dress.

Jewelsandgems · 27/04/2009 20:03

unfortunatly, the dress is from a little boutique in glasgow so cannot link. I will try and describe

Strapless
black silk
fitted smooth bodice
fitted to waist
then there is 5 rows of silk organza ruffles, ending about 3 inches below the main body of the dress (so you have a sheer layer of ruffle at bottom of dress)
The main body of dress is quite short and straight.

If this makes any difference, I am wearing the dress with a very long string of freshwater pearls strung around my neck twice.

Shoes are champagne silk, strap over ankle with silk bow, silver heel of about 3 1/2 inches, leather cream sole. I also have matching bag which is rather long and narrow, and covered with the champagne satin pleats.

love those lkbennets madame

Sounds gorgeous - the shoes from Office are def. not the right ones. The champagne ones sound perfect.

oranges · 27/04/2009 20:05

It does sound like the champagne shoes and bag would work very well with that dress. do you think they don't

Pennies · 27/04/2009 20:06

I'd say champagne. Monochromatic is in and that's pretty close to it. If the dress is silk and organza then leather will not look good with it IMO.

Jewelsandgems · 27/04/2009 20:09

Well I am worried that my feet kind of dissapear because of the colour of the shoes and that maybe the dress overpowers them. But, on reading your responses, maybe I am reading too much into that?

Do you think the bag goes too?

PigWithaCold · 27/04/2009 20:10

they are vile

sleepwhenidie · 27/04/2009 20:10

what size shoe are you? I am in London and have a pair of size 39 black satin evening sandals from LK Bennett (and matching-ish bag) if you want to borrow them. They are high with plain slim satin strap across the toe - they fasten around the ankle with a slim strap and buckle and the back of the heel is made up of diamante strands (stiff, not loose like chains). If interested I could take pic and post it for you?

madm00se · 27/04/2009 20:12

From the description of the dress, then personally I'd say the dress is too good for the shoe!! I know they're less interesting, how about:

www.office.co.uk/womens/poste_mistress/%27panther_t_bar/37/5693/15395/1/

or:

www.office.co.uk/womens/office/puff_dragon/37/5189/14177/1/

but I'm more conservative!!

Jewelsandgems · 27/04/2009 20:18

Thanks sleep for the very kind offer but I am a usually a 5 (or even sometimes a 4) and you are way down in London (me in Stirling!) They sound lovely though.

madm00se I like the shoes, but I do want something open toed, and more sandally IYKWIM (the ball is in June)

Agree with everyone else - they don't seem right for the dress.
