My dd would give anything for that headband

suwoo · 21/04/2009 22:15

It's ok, but don't think it looks the money tbh

suwoo · 21/04/2009 22:21

Yeah I like it with skinny jeans or with white trousers/linen shorts.

ShowOfHands · 21/04/2009 22:22

My 23 month old will not entertain a hairband/hair clips/her hair tied up. She just rips them out.

She looks a right scruff at times.

How did you convince her?

PS Would never spend that amount on dd. She doesn't own an item of non grass stained clothing. Cheap and cheerful here.

PPS Tis nice though. Hairband's awfully twee.

seeker · 21/04/2009 22:24

I think the headband is too hard and fussy for a toddler - and IMHO the top is too fancy - the straps would fall off her shoulders all the time and it would restrict her.

But I'm of the opinion that children should be dressed in practical working clothes that the don't notice they are wearing - so ignore me.

It's a lot of money too!

JeanPoole · 21/04/2009 22:26

oh yeah skinnys would look good
good idea

shes just satrting to let me do stuff with her hair like bunches etc.
her hair hasa to be clipped to the side or it will go in her eyes

what i find best is do her hair then distract her so she forgets.

she had her hair in bunches the other day then fil pulled them and went wooo wooo and then she took them out.

DD looks at me suspiciously if I approach her with a hairbrush and says 'no brushing, no tying, no touching. Is my hair, stop it mummy'.

TBH I've given up trying. I only ever want to tie it up to stop her trailing it in some paint.

JeanPoole · 21/04/2009 22:30

lol dd can't say that... yet!

she likes wearing dresses though!

OP posts:
suwoo · 21/04/2009 22:30

My kids have been bought up to love clothes and my DS is a real clothes horse (he is 2.4). I spend a lot more on their clothes than I do mine. I can dress well from Primark but I would never dream of dressing them in it. Most of their stuff does come from TK Maxx and Ebay to be fair.

DS loves shopping and the other week cried when I said we were going home, he begged me 'one more shop mummy',

gigglewitch · 21/04/2009 22:31

imho it's nice but not £16-worth. Sorry, no to the headband - it will be a right mare. Little hats and stuff tend to work better - and most little girls seem to like them, therefore keep them on!!

JeanPoole · 21/04/2009 22:31

lol that is brill suwoo, my dd is not too keen on shopping athe mo.

OP posts:
suwoo · 21/04/2009 22:34

He was shopping with me in Manchester city centre 5 days after he was born via c section so is well used to it . No3 will be treated the same way. I must have hundreds of a few pounds worth of clothes for him already!

JeanPoole · 21/04/2009 22:35

oh i didn't know you where pg! congratulations.
how far gone are you?

OP posts:
seeker · 21/04/2009 22:38

Skinny jeans and a nappy?

suwoo · 21/04/2009 22:38

24 weeks! Did I know you before you namechanged Jean?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/04/2009 22:43

suwoo would you really dress a toddler in white linen?

suwoo · 21/04/2009 22:44

Yeah... and then lock them in the house

JeanPoole · 21/04/2009 23:23

my dd looks funky in skinnys, yes with a nappy

suwoo, i wouldn't say know, just seen you about.

24 weeks how exciting!
are you already?

last year my dd had white trousers last year, they still fit on the waist but would look three quarter length

My dd has always loved hairclips/bands etc. She loves dresses and often refuses anything to do with trousers or jeans unless she has a "dress" (swing) top with them. I have no idea why, I hate all the fussiness, none of my other children have been like this. However, it all suits dd, she looks great in skinny jeans and a pretty top, my other shildren would look top heavy and, frankly, odd if you got them on them (which you wouldn't ) I think some children are just naturally disposed towards all the pretty pretty stuff!

I don't think the top would be restrictive myself, unless she has narrow shoulders they should stay up fine!

Going on from our earlier conversation it would make a good key piece for trousers, jeans etc with a plain cardigan and should wash well!

JeanPoole · 21/04/2009 23:54

here dd already has thsi cardi, do you think it woud go?
the top has some red in it.

that what i was thinking trying to mix and match, dd already has skinny jeans

KingCanuteIAm · 22/04/2009 00:01

Perfect with plain jeans yes. That is one of the things that I like about these kind of tops, you can put them with a white cardigan or pick out any of the colours.

I am looking forward to getting all the summer clothes out. I invested in a few crop cardigans from boden (I think) in the last sale ready to go with all these lovely summery tops. They all have glitter running through them, I am hoping dd will be convinced that will make it all girly enough to put up with wearing jeans for a change
