Urgently need to find some summer basics for DD (11) online

She has no clothes and it will be weeks before I can get anywhere with shops. Usually favour H&M and Zara. She just needs shorts, crops and tshirts really. I've just had a look at M&S and it is hopeless - all designed for 7 year olds and just sized up for older girls. She likes Animal but I am on a budget. Any ideas anyone? I will be forever grateful.

New Look - their young teens range?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 11:56

She doesn't really like New Look - she is more an indie/surf person.

Can she wear adult sizes (8?)? Maybe Uniqlo?? Always my fallback recommendation

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 12:03

No Tinker, that's part of the problem, she is average height but slight and with no bust at all yet. Most of her friends can wear adult size 8 but she still needs age 12.

Have you tried Fat Face?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 12:20

Yes, they haven't got anything much. I tried Next too, but their website design is driving me mad. Might have to go back to it though.
WHY don't Zara or H&M sell online?

La Redoute, maybe?

JackieNo · 20/04/2009 20:51

Dare I say Boden ?

gigglewitch · 20/04/2009 20:53

sorry I shouldn't be here as I am not stylish
my friends tend to hit debenhams for their 11-13yo girls - some nice stuff too.

flightoftheeasterbunyip · 20/04/2009 20:54

Yes la redoute/ vertbaudet vg for gels

gigglewitch · 20/04/2009 20:55

...and (cos I got all enthusiastic and pressed 'post' before I had finished thinking) their Red Herring stuff is nice, also most of them (but they are all dancers) live in Pineapple stuff

gigglewitch · 20/04/2009 20:57

Gap?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 20:58

Jackie, No, No, No to Boden. She is an indie girl! She likes black. And red. And maybe a bit of fluoro. But pastels and wacky prints are not her thing!

Gigglewitch - I got all excited about your Gap link, thinking you could buy online here now.
But tis the US site [sob]
OK will look at Debenhams and La Redoute!
WHY do I live in the arse end of nowhere!

I have huge problems with my nearly 12 year old dd2 as, like your daughter, she is still very slim and girlish in shape; even size 2 0r 4 in adult sizes in those shops that do them are too big for her.

She is also a fussy little creature; not at all interested in clothes and says just about everything is 'chavvy' or 'too Emo' and won't wear skirts, shorts or anything it seems other than jeans and t-shirts. She says she hates: Debenhams, Next, H&M, Boden etc etc - drives me insane.

Unfortunately the only two shops she will conemplate clothes from are Gap and Zara, neither of which are online. I was going to suggest fat Face but I see you've looked there already. Verbaudet maybe worth a look. Can she still squeeze into Pumpkin Patch or is it all too short for her?

janeite · 20/04/2009 21:02

PS 'Chavvy' is dd's word, not mine, so no offense intended!

GossipMonger · 20/04/2009 21:03

this?

am probably way off as I have boys of 7 and 4!!

or this?

few bits on here?

gigglewitch · 20/04/2009 21:03

sorry sorry sorry - should do my homework better - I got myself all excited too

gigglewitch · 20/04/2009 21:05

is new look to her liking?

gigglewitch · 20/04/2009 21:06

actually that new look stuff is really nice and from age 9

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 21:10

Janeite, you could be describing my DD too! Her winter uniform has been two pairs of skinny jeans, one black, one dark blue, a couple of black, red or purple tops and a long red and black stripey scarf. And stripey socks. And converse.
They are literally all the clothes she wears. Now I have to find a summer version of that lot!
She calls clothes she dislikes chavvy too.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 21:13

Gigglewitch I think she might like this tshirt but most New Looks stuff is too girly for her.
She doesn't do girly.
I would be tearing my hair out except it wouldn't be fair as I was exactly the same.

OP posts:
LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/04/2009 21:15

Oh she might like these shorts too.
I think we're gettings somewhere Gigglewitch!

OP posts:
janeite · 20/04/2009 21:15

I think my dd would like that t-shirt too!

The Debenhams link had some cute denim shorts. My dd would reuse them but yours might contemplate them, if worn with low-top converse and a cool t-shirt?
