dress

it's for a june wedding, catholic church, manor house hotel reception. i like it alot but think it might be too boring/old?

and what shoes? would love to get red but need someone to tell me if that's a daft idea

I rather like it. Slightly brashy rather than old though. IMO. Red would be ok, but I'd go for a bright green. Personally.

cheesesarnie · 19/04/2009 23:06

i love it.red shoes would look nice.or peacock greeny(iyswim)

stitchtime · 19/04/2009 23:07

i like it. depends entirely onhow it lookson you. underwear etc.
with high high heels

cornsilk · 19/04/2009 23:07

I'm not keen. (sorry!)

Tortington · 19/04/2009 23:11

i hate it - sorry. i think it looks cheap - certainly not what the price suggests. i think it looks trshy - more of a fri night cocktails witht he girls than a wedding.
well you did ask

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:13

I have a thing about bare shoulders in church tbh.

PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:13

see, underwear is what's casuding so much trouble finding a dress... i'm bf-ing so need a dress to hide the nursing bra... everything is strappy or strapless... it's hard to find something that covers the shoulders a bit but doesn't look like something your gran would ear

have also fallen in love with this] but it's not very festive is it... no way i could wear it for a wedding.

cornslk... all opinions welcome, am clueless about clothes really as i spend most of my time in very casual, slightly rock shick clothes... been years since i had to dress up 'nicely'

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 19/04/2009 23:13

I don't think it's worth £220, have you had a look in Monsoon?

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:13

Although I cant tell how bare your shoulder would be. It is no leaping from the page at me.

PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:16

shick? chick even... damn one handed typing

custardo... i kinda agree about the price tbh, not sure i like it enough to pay that but really not finding alot that i do like that would be catholic church appropriate

twinset... really? should i go for soemthing i could put a little cardi or shrug with then?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 19/04/2009 23:17

What about a wrap dress? DVF website has some in the sale for about the same price.

PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:17

there's one or two in monsoon i kinda liked... bear with me, slow connection so may take a minute to find them

OP posts:
cornsilk · 19/04/2009 23:20

Be careful if buying from Monsoon online - their returns policy is crap. I had to argue with a shop assistant to be refunded recently, even though I had returned the item within the time allowed. Never again.

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:20

It depends in the couple and the church tbh, I am a bit funny about things like that. As a family we do Sunday best for church.

I also think the second one is to short for church.

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:21

The whole world and its mothers wears a Monsoon dress to a wedding, best avoided unless you have a perfect figure and are stunning so you can blow them out of the holy water.

PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:24

cornsilk, i'm open to suggestions but tbh i've not yet come accross a wrap dress that i loved the look of

this livened up with bright red?

am weirdly drawn to this too although my mother might die of shock to see me in such bright colours.

like this too but again, a bit scared of the colour

oh god, i just don't do dresses as a rule, only over jeans usually!

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:27

lol twinset, that's the reason i wasn't going for the monsoon ones, the first family even i go to in 7/8 years i hardly want to be wearing the same outift as half the female congregation.

am dark haired, tall, size 10 but big boobs so probably need a 12 if that helps with the mental pic.

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:30

Gosh I am on net a porter now and there isnt a great deal with breastfeeding options.

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:31

I see so it doesnt need to open at the front?

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:32

breaks my shoulder rule but a better way to spend £250 in my opinion

LaDiDaDi · 19/04/2009 23:34

I don't like the coast one but I can't really put my finger on why.

I like the All Saints one but it's not very weddingy (colour as much of a problem as style imo).

I only like the last of your monsoon choices; the first one is too old fashioned and the middle one is horrid.

PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:36

as long as i could wrsetle my boob out somehow without having to go up to the room and take it off completely i'd manage... even if it means lurking in a corner with a muslin draped over me it would be fine, he'll be almost 5 months by then and theoretically (!) feeding alot less.

the main thing is that it hide the nursing bra, i can't get anything with spagetti straps or no straps at all.

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2009 23:38

pmsl at the thought of you wrestling your boobs in the back pew.

PinkTulips · 19/04/2009 23:39

i like that dkny one btw but think it may be stratching the budget a little...

OP posts:
LaDiDaDi · 19/04/2009 23:41

this any good?
