Is it a rash? Allergic reaction? Heatrash?
Does it look like this?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keratosis_pilaris
If it looks like this then you are stuck with it im afraid.

OhBling · 06/04/2009 13:45

Exfoliate. Moisterize and sun bed. If it's the same as the red bits me and DH get sometimes - the first two help a lot, but really you need a teeny bit of a tan to really make it go away.

MrsTittleMouse · 06/04/2009 13:47

According to The Food Doctors on TV (a nutritionalist and a medic) they can be made worse if you have an omega 3 fatty acid deficiency. So eating things like sardines or having ground flax seed on your cereal might help. Even if they don't, they are healthy things to eat, so no harm done.

chocolepew · 06/04/2009 13:50

Definately get on the fish oils, my DDs cleared up completely.

OhBling · 06/04/2009 13:52

Ooh, I'm going to offer that solution to DH - I am alway stelling him he needs to eat his fish oils...!

LittleOtik · 06/04/2009 13:57

Get pregnant.

I have this, and it only disappears when I am pregnant.

troutpout · 06/04/2009 14:11

Get older.
I have always had keratosis pilaris badly...it has only improved since i've got older 40 plus i would say. It also got better with each pg.

LouIsTheEasterBilby · 06/04/2009 14:18

They say it disappears as you get older. I always had it but always livind in Australia and had a tan. Since moving to the UK and being perpetually pale it is horrible and you can see the scars from when I was younger and picked at it. I have also read that people of celtic origin are most prone. Vitamin A tablets dont work. I have heard that sunbeds and zirtac does. Anyone tried this method?

traceybath · 06/04/2009 14:22

Agree with littleotik - am pregnant and its gone.

I have in the past used this and it helped a lot.

Also fake tan seems to help disguise it.

beforesunrise · 06/04/2009 14:23

creams with urea in them are supposed to help. Try Eucerin.

LouIsTheEasterBilby · 06/04/2009 14:31

eucerin hasnt really worked. going to try aha's next. Maybe should just go the sunbed.

Ohforfoxsake · 06/04/2009 14:36

Try body brushing. You can get a bristle brush from the Body Shop. Its great for circulation and exfoliation, and I think eliminating toxins or something.

mad4myboys · 06/04/2009 14:40

yes i also body brush havent noticed a diff during pregnancy. ds2 is 4 months but as im in tshirts im obv more aware of it..

navelgazer · 06/04/2009 16:16

agree with bloss, mine go away when I exercise

macherie · 06/04/2009 20:05

Ds1 had this and no cream ever made a difference. A couple of months after he started taking EyeQ I noticed the dry skin had gone.

mad4myboys · 06/04/2009 20:07

prob a stupid Q but the omega 3 tablets, i have some cod liver oil tablets that says omega 3 on the front, are these the same thing?

I use the body scrub gloves from body shop.

I have lovely upper arms, even if I do say so meselg

MrsMattie · 06/04/2009 21:23

Pregnancy also completely cleared mine up (got that weird, unpronounceable thing in the link ). It's back now, but sunlight, regular exfoliation and a bit of fake tan reduce the appearance (although it doesn't completely go). Are you very fair skinned. Apparently it's common in ghosts pale people like me.

MrsTittleMouse · 06/04/2009 21:47

Cod liver oil should do it.

llareggub · 06/04/2009 21:50

Pregnancy gets rid of mine too...

aquavit · 07/04/2009 11:52

Sunshine and exfoliation makes a big difference to mine too. And I also find that moisturising it every day is really helpful - this feels more counterintuitive but exfoliating on its own can make me a bit dry and flaky!

quornsilk · 07/04/2009 11:55

I have this. I read that weight training helps as it increases the circulation (or something..) Anyway I lift small weights to tone my arms and I think it's improved loads, along with exfoliation and diet.

TakeLovingChances · 15/04/2009 17:26

I have these too I always find them really ugly on myself, but I also know a few other women who have them too.

I'm Irish, so maybe that's something to do with it, as some people in previous posts said pale celtic skins get it badly... that's me screwed then
