Which beauty products?

I'm 44 and have never really had a beauty routine. I slap a bit of moisturiser on in the morning, usually what ever is cheap and on special offer and some handcream as well.

I really think I ought to be looking at a sort of routine now.

What products would you recommend?

What sort of routine should I get into?

I have noticed that my 'laughter lines' are becomeing quite marked and noticed this morning that at the bottom of my neck there was the beginnings of lines. You can only see them in certain lights but I know they are there.

So what I should be doing to keep this aging at bay?

I've found the Roc site and asked if they will send me samples. Will wait and see.

If I have no joy with Roc direct then I will go into the city next week, thanks Wats.

I did get a cleanser (to go into the shower), some cleansing wipes (for doing my face at night) and an exfoliating scrub on a 3 for 2 though

sounds good. You will soon get the hang of what your skin does and doesn't like.

Thats a shame Mrsg, although handy to know that they were willing to give you boots ones, i would have taken them anyway[smile0

I popped into town today with my dd and completely forgot to go to the beauty counters What a pain, i've got to go back now lol!

MrsGokWan · 18/03/2009 18:57

LOL Blossom, nearly did that but remembered at the last minute.

Yeah! your right I should have taken the freebies but you what it is like, I had to pluck up the courage to ask and had in my mind that Roc was what I wanted to ask for and when faced with something else I just couldn't compute [fuzzled head emoticon]

Yeah, they are abit scarey those beauty people lol!!!

At least you actually managed to remember to go there.......lol!

MrsGokWan · 18/03/2009 21:18

Hmmm! true but only just, I was on my way home and had to turn around.

I think it will be even more scary if I have to go to the big Boots or the Department Store in the city next week. I will be quaking in my boots.

Sorry Wats

You've been lovely, it's just you are at the other end of a key board and you can't see me. The girls behind the counter are 'THERE' eeeeek!! I just have this irrational fear that they are looking down on me.

Thats reassuring wats

Actually, although some of the counter staff look abit scarey (apart from wats) this has reminded me about when i was really brave and went to see one on the ysl counter. She looked amazingly perfect, you know perfect make up, perfectly dressed! I wanted to buy touche elcat and mentioned to her about my brown patches (on my face), which i am abit embarrased about. Anyway, she gave me the touche eclat and a couple of samples and looked at me really closely and said that she couldn't see all these patches!!! Just told me to make sure i keep putting sunblock on if i am worried and the sun could make them worse.

I realised that they are just normal people!! I had forgotten about that and think this little chat has made me confident to do it again!!!

Just thought i would share that with you all lol!!!

I use

Cleanser - Liz Earle cleanse and polish

Eye cream - Dior stuff with SPF20 (i also like the Body Shop vitamin E one in the little pink tube for when mone is a bit tighter)

Day Moisturiser - Dior one with SPF20

Night Moisturiser - Used to use the Dior one at night too (just the light day cream as the night was too rich for me) but recently went through a dry patch and tried some Bio Oil on my face. It did wonders, I've been using it for the last 3/4 nights and the difference in my skin is noticeable.

I don't use an exfoliant but the muslin cloth used with Liz Earle twice a day does all the exfoliating I need. I used to use Dermalogica microfoliant weekly but I have oily/spot prone sensitive skin and it just seemed to make it worse. Stripping the natural oil from my skin just made my glands flood my pores in panic and wham, 3 days later a delightful crop of zits . Now that I am using gentler products I have noticed a big reduction in breakouts.

I also use the Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask twice a week after cleansing.

Will do m'aam

Me thinks that DC3 and I need to take a trip to the city next week, once DH gets paid

My DC2 did a lovely thing today [roll eyes emoticon]. He and DC3 were playing in the ensuite shower while I was just getting their clothes together, went in to the en suite to get them out and they had got my lovely new cleanser and scrub out of the basket (have not worked out how the hell they managed to get into it as it is quite high up)and I now have two empty tubes .I was enjoying my new routine as well grrrrr!! Children, don't you just love 'em!
