I couldn't help myself. I bought 2 Mulberry bags yesterday in the factory shop and am scared to tell DH.

In my defence, they were priced at 50% off the already lowered price as they were 'damaged' but had been fully repaired by the factory!

I got a black Bayswater and a brown Roxy. (Normal colours are like gold dust in the factory outlets.) I only went in to get some diary inserts (belatedly).

Feel slightly guilty, but it would have been crazy not to - wouldn't it??
Please come and reasuure me I have in fact been very sensible.

I should be on commission

Oh yes, I forgot to mention they also do clothes and there is a great cafe. Maybe we should organise a Somerset meet-up there?!

What about an MN coach trip, boozy lunch en route, then we can all pull each other's hair as we fight over the bags

Mrs SB they are fab bags and I think you can justify the expenditure.

I bought a Ledbury in deep red from their Bicester Village store about 3 years ago now. I use it constantly and is so roomy you can even use it as a v stylish overnight bag (it has buckles and straps to extend the "width" iyswim). Its cost per wear (v important calculation on expensive purchases) must now be in negative figures!

I'm near bicester but don't think they discount their bags much there do they?

Does anyone know if Factory shop is same discount as bicester shop?

I have been staring at a Marc Jacobs tote on net-a-porter all morning. A Mulberry would really ease my pain. Would you like my address?

Doh! I have the Bayswater not the Ledbury (I do know what I'm talking about.....honest....)

Mascaraohara: I got my Bayswater for £300 instead of £600 at Bicester. It was because it was the "previous season's colours dahling"! Like I cared

i'm also not too far from shepton mallett so like to pop in there too.

I am sooo and mad with frustration that I live nowhere near either Somerset or Bicester. If only they did mail order

Is it bad of me to introduce this website. They're not real though, but you can't tell.

Have you ordered from them, Wizz?

The Anya Hindmarch ones are tempting me...

I just couldn't use a fake. It reminds me of the episode of Sex and the City, where Samantha was buying bags out the back of someone's boot. I'd rather not have one, than carry a fake.

I'm not a snob, I swear, just my opinion.

I've been there years ago when I worked near there. You were lucky to find anything worth having IME.

Wizzska · 12/03/2009 11:43

I know what you mean MrsJoe, because you'll always know it is a fake. I have a Miu Miu one from them, and my friend has bought a Fendi Spy from them and they're good fakes. the leather on my Miu Miu one is just slightly less soft than the real one, but her Fendi was bang on.

I bought a Chloe fake years ago, and I never used it because I felt like everyone could tell. Now when I do carry real designer bags (all three of them), I think, "Does everyone think this is a fake?". Maybe I think too much.

Why tell your DH at all? Mine doesn't notice any new bags/clothes at all.

Report
ninedragons · 12/03/2009 12:03

Cote makes an excellent point.

Report
Wizzska · 12/03/2009 12:18

Cote, I think mine either doesn't notice, or pretends not to because he knows I feel guilty about my purchases.

Wizzska · 12/03/2009 12:20

MrsJoe, I know how you feel but the lure of a fake is pretty strong for me as I can't justify a real one at the mo. Am torn between waiting to see what dregs are in the sales in July and wanting something now. Went to fashion week last week and am kicking myself for not buying a Luella one for £125. My friend did and I'm now .

there is a great Mulberry outlet shop in York too - just off Stonegate if anyone knows York. Not quite as bargainous as the Shepton Mallet store sounds but might be a bit closer for some..

I love mulberry - some of my bags I have had for years and they still look like new. I have just bought a [http://www.mulberry.com/#/storefront/c113/3342/category/ Shimmy Hobo]] in black. The factory shop do mail order if you know what you want. Just call them - they don't always have all the colours but are normally helpful.

Also, really good fish and chips over the road from Factory Shop. Not that you can eat fish and chips and fit Mulberry clothes - I guess that is why the accessories are so popular!

Does anybody know what the mulberry tote bag was called 2 years ago?

It is a bag that kind of have ridges down the bottom half of it ....so hard to describe it! Was done in black/brown/red/patent and used to be sold in John Lewis - i desparately want one and for the life of me I can't find one anywhere because I dont know the name of it!
