Maternity SCARF?!?!

How does a pregnant woman need a different scarf to a normal one?!?!?

Please can we add this to the list of "pointless crap we are told we need when pregnant" to go with the wipes warmers etc....

(this is what happens when you click a link on an email, then another, then another... you end up finding anorexic knicker models and pregnant scarves)

I clicked on that scarf thinking it might have pockets for buns but no...

BennyAndSwoon · 22/02/2009 13:20

PMSL

and why why why????

Ledodgy · 22/02/2009 13:22

I bought maternity gloves when I was up the duff.

Flamesparrow · 22/02/2009 13:26

were they extra special gloves??

OP posts:
Ledodgy · 22/02/2009 13:28

Well they cost more and the label said 'maternity gloves'. Looking back I think I was robbed.

JackieNo · 22/02/2009 13:30

lol at the 'pockets for buns' . I could do with that now, and I haven't been pregnant for years .

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 22/02/2009 13:30

Wasn't it maternity lollipops that had everyone appalled a couple of years ago?
I think we may have missed some gaps in the market, myself. How about maternity bog roll (for the extra sloppy bits), maternity tea spoons, maternity biros (for writing down those extra special things you forget when you go all preg-head...)...

giantkatestacks · 22/02/2009 13:30

Maybe they were extra big to draw attention away from your bump? Like Gladiator glad hands...?

Ledodgy · 22/02/2009 13:31

I was joking about the gloves of course but do confess to buying preggo pops (lollipops) when pregnant with my pfb.

giantkatestacks · 22/02/2009 13:33

Oh thats ruined my lovely image of you and your big preggy gloves [tuts]

Ledodgy · 22/02/2009 13:34

Flamesparrow · 22/02/2009 13:34

I was thinking that I thought you were more balanced than that ledodgy

Preggo pops though - I would have happily tried them had I known about them with DD, after months of losing anything I ate, I was willing to try anything.

Have just clicked on that aforementioned wipe warmer and its described thus:

'The Especially for Baby Wipe Warmer features a built-in changing light with auto shut off. Viewing window assures that you will not unexpectedly run out of wipes again. The universal dispenser works with ALL brand wipes and locks in moisture too! Insulated container warms wipes from the top down to insure that you warm the wipes that you use, as well as prevent them from browning. Low voltage for added safety. Re-enforced top designed for Original and new Pop-Up style wipes. Holds over 80+ baby wipes. Best of all-no hidden charges like expensive freshening pillows that need to be purchased and added every 3 months.'

OK a number of questions: wtf cant you just look in the box to see if you're running out of wipes. Am I too laissez faire about the 'browning' problem and what on earth is a 'freshening pillow'?

Its rather disheartening after 6 years of using wipes to find out I've been doing it wrong...

mileniwmffalcon · 22/02/2009 13:52

lololol

belgo · 22/02/2009 13:54

thanks for posting, that's made me laugh

belgo · 22/02/2009 13:55

at baby wipe warmer description

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2009 13:57

lol at OP
Flame, you've obviously never had a lot of pg related fluid retention in your neck and so needed a larger scarf?

and also at the wipe warmer with its own viewing window - the hours must fly by!

fuzzywuzzy · 22/02/2009 13:59

I used cotton wool and water, or cooled strong chamomile tea.

This wipes warmer, is it meant to be left on constantly, won't that add a bit to your electricity bill, if the wipes are at risk of browning, than surely they're at risk of drying out.

Has anyone on here used them and noticed the marked difference this warmer thing has made to a babies reaction to being changed?

Now preggipops. I'd have tried had I known about them during the three/four months I had hyperemesis with dd1, I would have tried anything (thought I had).

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2009 14:01

left on constantly
Does it not in itself dry them out? Not to mention a fire hazard!

giantkatestacks · 22/02/2009 14:03

Stealth - its 'low voltage for added safety' - they really have thought of everything [admiring shake of head]

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2009 14:05

Well if I invent one mine will tell you how many you have left after each bum change and will shout ALERT ALERT when you're down to 10.
It will also know the difference between adult hands and toddler hands and not allow my DS to pull them out 5 at a time to use while 'changing' his giraffe

giantkatestacks · 22/02/2009 14:48

you could just have done with it and include one of those high pitched noises they have outside Spars now to frighten off the youth.

Ths would solve your giraffe/toddler thing and also put my dd off crawling over to eat them.
