Dark under-eye miracle fixer jobby whatsit - is there such a product?

I have quite dark patches under my eyes, not circles as such, but kind of 'smudges' going down from the inner part of my eye, IYSWIM

I don't have bags (unless very hungover ) or wrinkles and I drink plenty of water and cleanse & moisturise twice a day. I probably don't get quite enough sleep but do any of us?! I don't use specific eye cream, but I'm gentle around the eye area. My skin is in good condition, I'm freckly but very pale - which emphasises the darkness I think.

Am I doomed to continue to fund Touch Eclat shareholder's holidays?

I have this too.

Apparently it is linked to an allergy of some type but I have never been arsed to get tested. If you google you will find 'stuff'.

I have never found any product that really works - only the touch stick too !

MadreInglese · 13/02/2009 13:37

Hmmm, I did wonder if it was food-related

I thought it was a genetic thing - you have them or you don't? Even when I get loads of sleep (ha ha ha ha ha - ie. before DD! ), I still have big shadows (but not bags, as you say) under my eyes.

I'd be interested to know about the food allergy thing (though I'm sceptical about how many people truly have allergies). Will google!

Apparently, you shouldn't use Touche Eclat because it's a highlighter, and will just make your eyes look, well, "highlighted" - this is particularly noticeable in photos where the flash makes you look like a panda in reverse. Bobbi Brown do an under-eye concealer & base which are quite good.

subtlemouse · 24/02/2009 13:44

Benefit do one which is quite good but I can't remember its name - I seem to remember it was Lemon something???

Penthesileia · 24/02/2009 13:45

Googled.

Frankly, I'd rather live with dark shadows than give up: wheat, sugar, yeast, dairy products, and egg whites!

Surely if I/we were really "allergic" to these things, it would register a bit more than just looking like I've gone a couple of rounds in the ring?

Penthesileia · 24/02/2009 13:46

Lemonaid?

MrsMcCluskey · 24/02/2009 13:46

Someone else recommended taking Milk Thistle supplements to improve dark circles.
It cleanses the liver which could help get rid of toxins?
I am a touche addict though, feel naked without it!

MadameCastafiore · 24/02/2009 13:47

I have given up all of ther above for Candida and it sucks!

But................

My cirlces are still there - not bad as used to be but still need concealer!

I use the Lancome one - just find I look less like a panda than with Touche Eclait.

peasholme · 24/02/2009 13:50

I found this the best thing I have used, and the cheapest by a long shot. it has a really good texture.

motherlovebone · 24/02/2009 13:50

iron deficiency?

MrsMcCluskey · 24/02/2009 14:01

ph - £1.50!!!!
Am I in a time warp here?!

peasholme · 24/02/2009 14:02

I know! And it's really fab. I used to use the No 7 highlighter thing, but it is something like 13 times the price, IIRC!

ClareintheCommunity · 24/02/2009 14:03

BOBBI BROWN

go and see them
theyll flog you all sorts of miracle creams

sagacious · 24/02/2009 14:03

I use Benefit erase (its a heavier texture than lemonaid)
But now going to click peas link .. !!

sagacious · 24/02/2009 14:07

ooooo have heard good things about elf

Jux · 24/02/2009 14:15

You wouldn't necessarily have to give up all of them though, would you? You could give up wheat for a couple of weeks, see if there's any change, if there isn't have wheat again but give up dairy etc.

TotalChaos · 24/02/2009 14:20

YSL Touche Eclat is good.

Bobbi Brown concealer- they also do another one to put on b4 the concealer- for really bad dark circles. Better than Touche E, IMO.

8oreighty · 24/02/2009 14:48

omg elf is amazing, never heard of it!
I use Laura Mercier concealer, 1 - lighter colour and it's nice and warm, good skin tone.

ClareintheCommunity · 24/02/2009 14:53

Yes i have both of the BB ones and the nice brush

chanelcandy · 24/02/2009 15:02

I use the mac one now after years of touche eclat and have found it to be loads better. It moisturises too.

MrsSeanBean · 24/02/2009 15:52

I am defending YSL Touch Eclat. It makes me look niticeably less dead (no mean feat) and has the added advantage of deflecting light, attention or whatever you wish to call it, away from a pimple thingy (unsure of exact technical term) on the side of my nose.

For that, I owe it a huge debt of gratitude - the ridiculously ever-escalating cost notwithstanding

MrsSeanBean · 24/02/2009 15:53

Touche
