I'm really not sure about that though usually it's something I'd love - it's very cheeseclothy 70's?

You wouldn't like the Navy instead?

gigglewitch · 09/02/2009 00:33

it's lovely, and extremely pink.

do you have to have special 'school-run-wear' in your patch?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 09/02/2009 00:34

No No No navy is urgh on me,too harsh

V pretty dress, low maintanance, cool cotton, (cheap)ticking a load of boxes for me

Hmmmm

Just the thing for all this snow we've had recently...

Seriously, I do like it but think the navy would be much more safe versatile.

twentypence · 09/02/2009 00:37

So tell me about this school run dress wearing thing - there is a lady who picks up from school wearing the same dress every day. According to dh she wears it for drop off as well.

Now either she only wears it for an hour a day - or she has five - or she doesn't perspire at all.

After about 5 weeks she wears a new dress again every day and we never see the old one again.

Explain if you know please.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 09/02/2009 00:38

I quite like that, it's pretty

I've been here for 2 years, but I still have no idea what qualifies as a "school run dress". Can you talk me through the criteria?

gigglewitch · 09/02/2009 00:38

Stick With The Pink

and yes, it would look gorge with your green wellies, mac and umbrella

FAQinglovely · 09/02/2009 00:39

I don't get this "school run dress" business either.....

I mean ermm - what's the point???

gigglewitch · 09/02/2009 00:39
TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 09/02/2009 00:40

twentypence - I reckon she's just a bit bonkers

BoysAreLikeDogs · 09/02/2009 00:44

It works like this:

You spend all day gardening/lounging around/cooking in yer shorts and t shirt all sweaty and grubby then a quick swill, whip the dress over your head, tidy/tousle your hair accordingly and trot up to school as fresh as a daisy and fragrant as Mary Archer

See??

FAQinglovely · 09/02/2009 00:45

ermm - no still don't get it - you're at the school gates for what? 5 minutes maximum - 10 on a bad day - you do all that faffing around for what purpose???

twentypence · 09/02/2009 00:46

She is lovely though - maybe I should just ask her.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 09/02/2009 00:47

You look lovely

*disclaimer - this is a Friday-only occurence for me, the rest of the week I am working

OP posts:
FAQinglovely · 09/02/2009 00:48

so you look lovely for 10 minutes, get home and by the time the kids are in bed you're totally frazzled and looking crap again

No nononono

School run dress is an idea of Cod's and is actually a dress you can wear to lie in the back garden in the sun in the summer and still look decent to go up to school in.

Point being that you can't go up to school in grotty shorts or whatever, and you do have to go to school, so you need sthg that can take you from you sunbathign afternoon to the school gate in one easy swoosh.

mymama · 09/02/2009 00:52

I like it. It is very pink but if you can carry it off go for it.

We don't have a school run dress thing but there are mums "dressed" for the school run.

I wear an assortment of dresses, skirts and shorts/tops. They go on for drop off and pick up unless I am doing other errands throughout the day.

I could not wear my day clothes. They are not fit to be seen outside the home. My cellulite shows

Quattrocento · 09/02/2009 00:52

Ah. Is there no snow and lots of hot sun where you are? Because if you are in the UK, I'd suggest arctic whites ...

ThePinkWorldOfSeptimusSchmaltz · 09/02/2009 00:53

Aaah, I see

FAQinglovely · 09/02/2009 00:55

how do you know they're "dressed" for the school run? Perhaps they dress like that all the time?

kickassangel · 09/02/2009 01:02

LOL - at 'school run dress'
there were some mum's who appeared at teh school gates looking perfect, the 5 of them stood together. others of us just turned up in whatever, from my friend who is part-time gardener & part time nurse (you could tell which day it was) to people like me who could still be in their slobby clothes, or come straight from work & wearing a suit. within moments we were buried beneath bags, paintings hugs etc.
do people really bother?

mymama · 09/02/2009 07:03

FAQ maybe some of them do dress like it all the time. But nightclub makeup, stilettos and a pile of 'bling' is a bit ott for dropping kids to school. Most days they are just going home to clean or look after younger dc.

bigTillyMint · 09/02/2009 07:15

I love it!

I always thought Joules was very expensive, but I have never looked on the website!

slackrunner · 09/02/2009 07:35

I think it makes her norks look like pink blancmanges - sorry, tis not very flattering.

I'd personally be happy to go to school in aforementioned grotty shorts.
