Sonnet · 04/02/2009 09:34

I am 41 and a half and have officially let myself go....I need to get myself back but with 25lbs to loose it is a long haul.

To help myself feel better about myself and to motivate me to stick to the long haul and am going to concentrate on being "healthy" for the next 14 days and would love some company along the way

I am going to:

Drink 2 ltrs of water a day
No alcohol this will be hard
Moisturise my dry skin daily
Apply cream to my "hooves" twice daily
no junk food,, crisps, chocolate
8 hours sleep a night

Anyone want to join me?

MarmadukeScarlet · 04/02/2009 10:24

Too busy feeling sorry for myself currently fat, frumpy and looking dreadful - none of my clothes fit etc.

Also am peed off as have blocked drains since Sun night - no mains drainage round here - and Mon they wouldn't come out, Tue they did come out although machine not working due to cold weather and they were due at 9am today. Yeah right.

I want to flush my loos and have a shower, not much to ask is it?

I can do water
I don't drink anyway
I always use moisturiser am and pm
Hooves fine, but have rhino knees
Could try no junk
But would struggle with exercise - as am lazy arse!

lostinnappies · 04/02/2009 12:30

SABOTAGE ALERT ***

My dad just popped over for coffee and brought a bpx of maltesers I had 4

bugger

Sonnet · 04/02/2009 12:40

MS - I know exactly what you mean - I too feel fat and frumpy and look dreadful - although I can shower and flush the loo

So sorry to hear about your drainage problems - we too are not on mains drainage and if anything does go wrong it always seems to take forever to sort out!! - would put me off buiying another house not on mains drainage to be honest. In fact please do not ask me what happened when our 100 year old septic tank broke!!!
Have they turned up yet?

My weight has gone on gradually, every year have got heavier. I have stopped bothering about myself. The whole loose 25lb thing seems too big which is why I want to try 2 weeks....
LOL lostinnappies - my "friend" gave me a crunchie which is curretly residing in my desk draw. I just wish it would stay there!

Impressed with your will power to stay at 4 though - I would have had the whole box!!
I am going to post my to do list as a reminder for me and to keep me going:
Drink 2 ltrs of water a day - 1 ltr so far
Eat 5 ( or should it be 6 )portions of fruit and veg - done 5 already!!
No biscuits, cakes, choc, crisps - not given in so far
Moisturise body am and pm - not done yet
Hooves am and pm - not done yet

ermm..what else?
Exercise 30 mins - not done yet
creamed 60 year hands - done twice so far!

Thanks Sonnet, I was worried I'd killed your thread.

Yes, they've just left. I am £265 poorer but at least I can go and have a shower. My main issue now is that whilst jetting he flooded a gravel pathway (next to the house that has a brick wall up other side, so hemmend in) with raw sewage and says it is not his job to clear it up. My hose is frozen so have just had to tip buckets of water and disinfectant on it. Agree about the mains drainage - I miss gas too.

Sorry to hijack and rant on your thread, but the whole thing (and other stuff) is completely stressing me out. The straw that broke the camel's back happened and I ate chocolate (quite a bit ).

Today is not the day for me to punish myself over this slip, I will return to your friendly fold tomorrow if that is ok?

lostinnappies · 04/02/2009 15:01

oh dear marmaduke that is awful.

why does one task always breed another ?

chocolate seems quite justifiable IMO

just been on an hour's walkdrank 2 pints of water so far

sleepingbeauties · 04/02/2009 15:32

Ok am going to try and join you as it all sounds really good plan, esp the moisturising bit!!! Winter dry skin is just horrible.

Cartoose · 04/02/2009 17:25

Can I join too? seriously need to do something about my growing hideousness.

MS how awful! If anyone deserves chocs it's you.

ShannaraTiger · 04/02/2009 17:34

I'm joining to definately need teh moisturizing.

lostinnappies · 05/02/2009 08:59

Okay so far so good

Drank my quota of water yesterday and ate quite well

Had a nice shower last night and defuzzed, moisturised, did fingernails and toe nails and blowdried my hair.

Went to bed an hour earlier and woke up feeling quite glam.

nannyogg · 05/02/2009 09:08

Can I join too?

I will also:

Drink 2 ltrs of water a day
No alcohol - might be a struggle but I need to!
Moisturise my dry skin daily
Apply cream to my "hooves" twice daily
no junk food,, crisps, chocolate
8 hours sleep a night.

I lost 2 stone last year but it's creeping back up and I can't seem to stick to any plan. This might give me the boost I need to get back on track.

oooo - I'm on the verge of ordering a wii fit from argos. £75 delivered. Shall I or shan't I?

lostinnappies · 05/02/2009 09:27

all this talk of hooves is making me feel quite sick

I keep getting an image of that bloke from the lion the witch and the wardrobe - what was his name ? the half man half deer bloke.

nannyogg - well done on the weight loss last year. Get the wii fit I think the secret to maintaining weight loss is veriation in excercise.

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 05/02/2009 09:59

lostinnappies your father bought a box of maltesers and you only ate FOUR, that should be celebrated, so many people fall off healthy eating plans because they have one piece of cake/chocolate/etc and think they have destroyed the whole thing. Also being able to only eat 4 maltesers is quite a healthy attitude to eating.

Anyway. This all sounds good, apart from the 8 hours sleep thing which I would actually kill for but have a 6 month old who thinks sleep is for WUSSES.

I am going to have a glass of water now.

lostinnappies · 05/02/2009 10:52

LOL I sent the rest of the box to work with DH - I can only resist for so long and I could here them calling my name fom the cupboard !!!

sleepingbeauties · 05/02/2009 11:17

The moisturising really makes you feel better, drinking the water filling me up which is a good thing!!! Any views on wii fit ?

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 05/02/2009 11:34

According to InStyle magazine the Best Hand Cream is Sisleya Global Anit-Age Handcare. At £77

to be fair they do have a best cheap option which is norwegian formula hand cream from nutrogena at a slightly more respectable £3.39

nannyogg · 05/02/2009 12:15

£77 for hand cream?

I could buy a wii fit for that

I didn't buy it - can't really justify it financially at the moment. I'll just carry on with wii sports and this dancey game I've downloaded. I do go to the gym when I can fit it in, but unfortunately its not that often.

I will start this officially tomorrow as that's my weigh day, and I'm doing the big shop tomorrow so can get lots of fruit and veg (and no biccies or wine)

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 05/02/2009 19:07

I have a wii fit. I used it 3 or so times a week when i first got it. I enjoyed the step aerobics, the cardio boxing and the hula hooping....but there are only 2 step routines so you quickly become bored with it. Has a lot of yoga poses on it so if yoga is your thing it may be good for that. I gave up, the kids use the wii now and i bought a cross trainer in the sales. Im using that 3 x plus a week now....but only had it since December! Think excersize dvd's may be better.

TheYearOfTheCat · 05/02/2009 21:23

Hello ladies,
I was wondering if I could join you in your challenge?

I am currently trying to lose weight (1 1/2 stone from Nov - another 2 1/2 to go , and am doing it by focusing on 3 rules - no junk, smaller portions, and alcohol during the week.

However, I know I also need to drink more water, exercise more, and could really benefit from some moisturiser (and the 8 hours sleep), so I would be up for the challenge.

I might find the no alcohol at the weekends hard, but I'll do my best .

TheYearOfTheCat · 05/02/2009 21:24

Sorry, that's no alcohol during the week.
