Lined face. Help me look slightly less ancient please.

Had some lines for a while now-under eyes particularly and ones from nose to mouth. Eye ones got much worse after last baby/sleepless nights. I have just begun to use Boots No7 Eye cream, hydrating face cream and am using the free sample of protect and perfect serum that came with them.
Any other non-expensive things to try.
I try to drink water but find it too boring. I drink tea mostly and am trying to drink more green tea and jasmine tea.
I don't smoke.

Off to pick up DD from dancing. Back soon.

Bumping for you.

pushchair · 16/01/2009 17:23

Thank you PuzzleRocks. Do you always go about bumping lonely posts?
Was beginning to feel even more ancient and probably beyond hope.

I don't like to see threads unanswered. I'm sure you look much better than you feel.

soyabean · 16/01/2009 18:07

No advice but interested in any advice! Have two horrible deep vertical grooves between my eyebrows, looks like I am permanently frowning Don't mind looking my age but dont wat to look tired and grumpy!

squeaver · 16/01/2009 18:11

Protect and perfect serum is the best. Plus the most hydrating cream you can afford, especially in this weather. And night cream (any half decent night cream imo but I use Clarins) every night.

I miss cod - she'd have done you a top 10.

soyabean · 16/01/2009 18:13

Thanks squeaver I do use night cream but will look for the serum

pushchair · 16/01/2009 18:21

What about hydrating? Does it really make any difference to drink lots of water and does it have to be water?

Also sleep. More sleep? Would it make a difference now? Is it too late.

From time to time I use Frownies. Extremely goofy and slightly strange to sleep in but they work for me! I use them on my forehead.

yes - water does make a MASSIVE difference. If you can't be arsed or keep forgetting my advice is to carry a bottle with you everywhere and drink, so if you walk to the shop for example, or to collect the kids just drink from it as you go.

VinoEsmeralda · 16/01/2009 18:46

try and cut out caffeine, made a huge impact on my skin tone/state of skin. Drink herbal teas if you like them.

Protect & Perfect serum very good, Bio oil also very good, did help with my lines ...

Tinker · 16/01/2009 18:48

No, water is water so it's fine in any form ie tea is just as good. In fact, tea is better since has anti-oxidants (but they may have been rubbished a bit as well as miracle workers) But am not sure you have to drink that much anyway. Water is in your food as well.

BonsoirAnna · 16/01/2009 18:50

Lots of sleep.

Holidays around a swimming pool lying in the shade sleeping and reading novels.

A full-time housekeeper.

pushchair · 16/01/2009 19:47

Ah holiday in sun and I presume with DDs in a holiday club
Thanks for good advice. Does protect and perfect go on eye area?

Very interested in this thread too. Looked at myself today and thought: who the hell is that old woman looking back at me?

My skin looks dull, dry, wrinkled and flabby - and I'm only 35. Dammit. Worst of all, I've suddenly got a waddle (you know, one of those wrinkly necks). How do I get rid of that? And also, what do you use on your skin to get a 'dewy' look so that it looks moist instead of dry and tight?

Help me too please!

electra · 16/01/2009 19:55

You could try a microdermabrasion facial (one that uses a diamond wand) Excellent imo - better than any cream you could buy. It removes all the dead skin cells. Not inexpensive at £55 but well worth it imo.

Other than that - no alcohol, drink a big bottle of water every day and get enough sleep (not that I can proclaim to do any of these things for a length of time!)

Also use mineral make up - better for your skin. I get fewer blemishes since I started using it.

brimfull · 16/01/2009 20:00

this is good as a filler

but Avon's magix face perfecter is amazing

brimfull · 16/01/2009 20:01

avons stuff and cheaper

pushchair · 16/01/2009 20:23

hmm avon stuff interesting. Hate make up on my face though.

So resolving to
Drink more even if its tea but preferably herbal
Go to bed earlier instead of lurking on MN
Investigate some products
Investigate some sort of facial-would love one, maybe for b.day.

elemis do some fab anti aging stuff

brimfull · 16/01/2009 20:26

there comes a time when everyone needs a bit of slap/help imo

doesn't need to look unnatural

joshandjamie · 16/01/2009 20:34

can you go somewhere neutral that will look at your skin and tell you what you need in terms of products to use, make up, treatments etc? Most spa places just plug their uber expensive products. I want affordable day to day products plus splash out on the odd luxury that I need to stop me from turning into a complete hag.

pushchair · 17/01/2009 09:20

Yes any neutral places?

i have found the more 'stuff' i use on my 'thatched' face, the more spots and blackheads have appeared. Day cream, hydrating cream, night cream. Could they have caused the not only dry but now teenager type skin i have?

i am now 40 (did i mention that!!, no it's ok i AM coping)and my skin has gone horrid over the last two yrs.
