shield you eyes

It's knitted and printed (classic Boden crime). It's "sassy". And I think the yellow is particularly heinous.

I'm really looking forward to getting it!

I've been looking for a dress with that kind of collar for ages. This had been hindered by the fact that I had a clear oicyure in my head of said collar style but no idea what on earth it was called.

Sigh....can relax now and go back to giggling at Boden.

MrsSeanBean · 14/01/2009 16:43

picture even...

beanieb · 14/01/2009 16:44

server too busy.

YohoAhoy · 14/01/2009 17:01

Gosh, there are some very, um, interesting clothes at Boden this year.

I did have a snigger at this one.

I mean, they're pyjama bottoms, aren't they? On the beach???????

s7ondemand1-apps.scene7.com/Boden/BodenZoom.jsp?company=Boden&sku=09ASPR_MC222&config=Boden/zoom_con fig&prodName=Pull-ons&prodPrice=%a335.00&prodStyle=MC222&colorNames=GRN;Green+Check,KHK;Khaki+Check, LVR;Lavender+Check,MBL;Mid+Blue+Stripe,NAV;Navy+Check,RED;Red+Check

I can't decide if he's genuinely pleased with himself, or if I can see the pain through his clenched teeth.

widgypog · 14/01/2009 19:37

the shape of those dresses is actually very flattering for my figure(hourglass) and quite hard to find that shape with long sleeves..as I have never bought anything from boden (preferring topshop) I will keep my opinion to myself but if it werent so blardy expensive I may buy one to try...runs to the hills!!!

NotADragonOfSoup · 14/01/2009 20:01

that Toast dress is probably as far away from the yellow vomit dress in the original link as you can guess. Gina Ford as opposed to Attachment Parenting.

NotADragonOfSoup · 14/01/2009 20:01

as you can get not guess.

NotADragonOfSoup · 14/01/2009 20:03

I don't know how you Toast lovers can defend this though. It would slot quite nicely into the Boden catalogue.

NotADragonOfSoup · 14/01/2009 20:04

Or this which could be worn whilst your partner wore the Boden beach PJs from earlier in the thread.

southeastastra · 14/01/2009 20:04

ooh i like the toast one and the boden one.

mrsmaidamess · 14/01/2009 20:08

He must rub his hands when certain women come along.

It reminds me of that Harry Enfield sketch where those dippy women go into his antiques shop and he sells them utter crap for thousands of pounds because they are too dumb to know any better.

Do his catalogues still have those annoying bylines next to each model eg' 'Candida,30..Favourite beverage-"Don Perignon or Hot Bovril on the terraces at Tottenham"

HelenBurns · 14/01/2009 20:12

'I saw you coming' dot com.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 14/01/2009 20:48

Dragon - you are so very right about that rather sad looking plaid dress. Tis truly vile.

Mrs SB - so glad you got your dress . Would have felt guilty if I'd have sent you on a fruitless trek. You are right to go for your real size - it is a close fitting rather than a tight fit. I think going smaller would cause too much creasing of fabric etc (and as its dry clean only I will be trying to get as much wear between cleans as possible!)

I ordered even more today - the velvet/silk tunic in gauzy blue (which I am hoping will look fab with jeans or leggings) and a 50's style dress reduced to a very reasonable £35 (wouldnt have paid full price for it though and the first view of it on the page looks dire but on the model looks v v Julianne Moore).

MrsSeanBean · 14/01/2009 22:06

Thanks for the original tip Mrs Simm!

I like the sound of the tunic too...

Tinker · 14/01/2009 23:25

I've just ordered that £35 Toast dress thanks to this thread. And I've openly mocked Toast on here before.

snowleopard · 14/01/2009 23:29

Oh, I love to mock Boden but it doesn't mean I don't buy their stuff. Great jeans and pjs for example and I have a dress I love from there. It's just their wilder flights of fancy that must be mocked

zenandtheartofbaking · 14/01/2009 23:30

Tinker: Ha!

You'll be rifling through the shelves of Jo Malone next!

Tinker · 14/01/2009 23:33

Oh god, I'm turning. >

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 15/01/2009 10:05

Tinker!!

Which colour did you order? I chose the grenadine red....
Am also pretty chuffed that dress can be machine washed too . Am regularly put off buying "dry clean only" clothes even when they are gorgeous.

Hassled · 15/01/2009 10:11

Oh that is truly awful.

I posted on a Boden thread yesterday, defending Boden, and then flicked through the latest catalogue they'd sent - and there was nothing in it I would consider buying. So I retract my defense.

It's becoming like a caricature of itself - like they reviewed last year's bold patterns/bright colours and just decided to up the ante. Maybe they did it for a dare.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 15/01/2009 13:17

Just got the new catalogue and there are a few things I might consider but NOT anything sassy or fun or flipping hotchpotch .

How old does he think we are?

LOL at 'I saw you coming', Helen and Mrs M - our local area has been invaded by so many shops like that and the dopeys who fall for it. Its become a family catchphrase when somewhere new and pretentious 'chic' opens round our way...

Tinker · 15/01/2009 19:41

MrsSimm - I too got the red. Think it looks great on the model. Ahem, we shall see about Real Life however. Must have got the last 12 since it disappeared as available as soon as my order was processed. Spooky.

Scum · 15/01/2009 20:17

Tinker! YOU bought a toast dress? After all you've said about them? Excellent.

Tinker · 15/01/2009 23:38

Why have you changed your name??????

Scum · 15/01/2009 23:42

um.... Have been incognito on a thread and kept having to change back and forward so have been scummy and then scum so didn't have to type so much (lazy). Will eventually wend my way back to scummymummy.. Scum does sound a bit aggressive somehow. Anyway, I can't find your red toast dress! Where is it?
