My lovely brother bought me a bottle of Chanel No 5 for Christmas. ONly problem is...

I hate it. It smells of old lady wardrobes. But I've opened it now (as I didn't know what it smelled like) and can't swap it anywhere..

It's a 50ml bottle too, he must have spent a fortune (a fortune for our family anyway) but I really cannot bring myself to wear it. It smells like Zoflora.

I like it too but it reminds me of a rather unsavoury 15 year old lad who nicked bought a bottle for me when I was 13 and then wanted things in return which I wasn't willing to give!

I like sweet, fruity, musky, natural scents. Like Eternity or HUgo Boss Deep Red.

I can't possibly wear it, I have no clothes that go with it.

I'll create a shrine to it on my bathroom shelf, one that says "Look, someone cares enough to buy me Chanel"

I think I'd try to swap it for Chanel Chance, on here, for example. You'll like that better, methinks.

How strange just had a conversation with my friend in Australia whose DH bought her a bottle for christmas, it cost the equivalent of about £75 and she wanted the new one, hates the original. Like you, she opened it but the shop took it back in the end although they did say it isnt what they would usually do. Worth a try though?

Use it as air freshener

I live chanel no5 but have not worn it for ages. I wear Prada and Coco chanel madesmoiselle. To me n05 smells lots of jasmine (but then perfumes smell different on everyone non?)

Oh I love, but I used to hate it though, so maybe it is an acquired taste. TBH all perfumes smell of chemicals and I rarely ever wear any, but I do love my Chanel, reminds me of my wedding...

I bloody hate the smell of Chanel no5 my mum wears it still and its disgusting.

my sister was given some and changed it, but tried some on anyway in the shop. By that night she decided she liked the smell on herself after all So perhaps you need to put some on and see if you like it after a bit? I am sure I have heard the beauty counter people saying you need to let it develop on your skin, something to do with skins acidity which is why perfumes smell different on different people.
