More fancy dress help please

Sorry: I'm always asking for help with fancy dress ideas - but here I go again.

I need to dress up as a pop star. I am little, size 12, brunette, although I have quite an assortment of wigs. It needs to be appropriate to wear in a secondary school, so probably not Amy Winehouse (which is a shame as she is VERY easy to do!).

Please help!

Pretty pretty please?

Alison Goldfrapp?

Either - blonde wig and glam rock phase; some sort of catsuit and high shoes/boots or
blond wig and new, strange clown and tricorn hat phase. Borrow hat and make clown outfit from white sheet. do you remember how to make pom poms?

Am I supposed to do a link?

southeastastra · 10/12/2008 21:25

was going to say toni basil but teenagers wouldn't know her

janeite · 10/12/2008 21:26

I know how to make pom poms - but I have no idea who she is!

My musical knowledge ended with the demise of The Smiths.

Toni Basil v cool but mini skirt maybe not a great idea for school! And for my legs!

Google Goldfrapp - Strict Machine.

PurplePillowsInSantasBed · 10/12/2008 21:27

How about one of the spice girls?

zenandtheartofbaking · 10/12/2008 21:30

Cheryl Cole. Ho ho.

I second you going as Posh. Everyone would love that. All you'd have to do is wear wig, sunglasses, something black and high and pout all night.

janeite · 10/12/2008 21:31

Posh is a possibility. It's day time, in school though. And I will be teaching in whatever I wear! i am much fatter than Posh though.

Keep em coming please! And thanks all.

Kate Bush - hallowe'en style wig (or super frizz your hair), mad 70s glittery make up and keep swinging your arms around madly, caterwauling.

Ewe · 10/12/2008 21:34

Katy Perry? She is a small brunette!

Britney? Blonde wig and a school uniform, appropriate for bing at school

Ewe · 10/12/2008 21:35

bing being

janeite · 10/12/2008 21:35

Lol at the idea of me in pink shorts. I haven't heard of her either.

Britney is easy but again, probably not appropriate for a teacher!

Is there anybody that the pupils will have heard of, except Posh?

madonna, one of abba, celine dion

Ewe · 10/12/2008 21:38

If you have a VERY blonde wig Gwen Stefani could be cool.

Kylie if you're feeling very brave or Avril Lavigne would be an easy one, like this.

You could do Rhianna and carry around a brolly?

janeite · 10/12/2008 21:38

Celine Dion? Oh my god!

I've been toying with early Madonna a la lace gloves and leggings but am a bit old and fat for it I think.

Beyonce? Big wig, satin evening gown, large diamonds

janeite · 10/12/2008 21:39

Oooh ooh Avril Lavine could be a contender!

Don't know who Rhianna is.

OP posts:
isawmodernartkissingsantaclaus · 10/12/2008 21:40

Oh and possibly a layer of fake tan

janeite · 10/12/2008 21:43

Don't think I'd pull Beyonce off unfortunately.

Ewe · 10/12/2008 21:53

Tina Turner could be fun! Dolly Parton is fairly recognisable too.

Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical?

Ewe · 10/12/2008 21:56

Oooh Lily Allen!

Zebraa · 10/12/2008 22:11

I think you should let Ewe come with you!

janeite · 11/12/2008 18:37

Ewe - you would be very welcome!

Lily Allen could be good - is she basically a prom dress, trainers and bling?

I quite fancy Bjork's swan dress but don't think there are enough feathers around to make one at such short notice!

Hopeful bump.
