More fancy dress help please

Sorry: I'm always asking for help with fancy dress ideas - but here I go again.

I need to dress up as a pop star. I am little, size 12, brunette, although I have quite an assortment of wigs. It needs to be appropriate to wear in a secondary school, so probably not Amy Winehouse (which is a shame as she is VERY easy to do!).

Please help!

Another idea for the blonde wig (could you turn it into a bit of a beehive?): Duffy

Or why not Leona Lewis? Long soft curls, long floaty dress, something like this but maybe with a leather jacket over it in the cold?

What did you go with in the end last time BTW?

janeite · 11/12/2008 20:56

Last time I was the White Witch and before that I was Charlotte's Web.

Leona Lewis is far too beautiful.

I'm thinking maybe Lily Allen - if dd2 remembers to bring her trainers home from school for me to pinch.

Can you get big hooped earrings for non-pierced ears? And what could I wear with a prom dress to keep me warm enough?!

Am still open to other suggestions though please.

I bet you could pull off Leona Lewis but ok, I get that it might feel a bit pretentious. Oh well, at least I helped last time by the look of it, since I suggested the Ice Witch! I don't suppose there's any way you'd show us a picture?...

janeite · 11/12/2008 21:30

God no, I don't "do" pictures!

I enjoyed it though, so thanks for the suggestion.

Most of the costumes I've done have been quite "goth" so I'm thinking that the obvious things: Siouxsie, Robert Smith etc should be avoided this time, just for a change!

what was so wrong with being Amy Winehouse? Was it just because of the drug associations - you could always go as her but in a dressing gown (and the oblig beehive of course) and be Amy in Rehab?

geri halliwell avec union jack dress

christina aguilera avec chaps

retro- dolly parton or tina turner

zenandtheartofbaking · 11/12/2008 23:12

I love Dolly Parton. I am so pleased that you can now say "Ah! Of course she is a brilliant songwriter" and warble along with "Butterflies" without shame.

I think you should wear a cardi and go as Lily. She definitely used to do cardis and dresses.

I've been Amy Winehouse before (although not for school). I'm deffo going to go for Lily Allen - prom dress, little cardi, trainers, chavvy jewellery. Can anybody advise on hair please?

best to look here at google images of her - lots to choose from. If you have a big fringe, it will be easier, but she seems to chop and change quite a lot.

janeite · 12/12/2008 21:44

Thank you. I haven't got a fringe!
