wet look leggings?

Maybe teamed with a lightweight, slim-fitting, long-ish white cotton shirt, wide belt and flat boots?

if you are rail thin then yes go for it

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 07/12/2008 10:20

Didn't the Wet Look get shoved to the back of the closet in the 80's? A major style crime IMO sorry!

I think the only way you can manage them is if you are close to 6ft and around a size 8/10...

They are really not my taste though so I am probably not giving the best advice!

CountViscount · 07/12/2008 10:21

I LOVE them - if you have slim legs. Would get myself if I had something to wear it too.

MadamAnt · 07/12/2008 10:22

Am a 10-12, so not uber-skinny. I did see a hip young thing who looked about the same size as me yesterday, and she looked good IMO. I think I was more concerned about the age factor (I'm 33).

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 07/12/2008 10:23

age doesn't matter
how tall are you?

MadamAnt · 07/12/2008 10:23

My legs are in good nick, but I don't have snake-hips. By a long shot

OP posts:
MadamAnt · 07/12/2008 10:23

I'm 5'6"

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 07/12/2008 10:26

go for it
they are only £18

NorbertDentressangle · 07/12/2008 10:27

They would be very unforgiving of any minor imperfection I would think.

Even if you were 6' tall and size 8 you would have to have perfectly formed legs, no knobbly knees, no VPL etc etc

But all that said, if you want to wear them then wear them! Lifes too short to live in jeans and a fleece

CountViscount · 07/12/2008 10:30

I think the shirt and boots thing sounds odd.

CountViscount · 07/12/2008 10:31

I'd wear THESE here wiht a long blakc sweater and heels.

MrsSeanBean · 07/12/2008 11:51

No. No. No.

southeastastra · 07/12/2008 11:53

get the gold american apparel ones

Sidge · 07/12/2008 11:53

You'd have to wear these on your feet if you do get them...

Dragonbutter · 07/12/2008 11:54

if you want wet look then move to devon.
or stop doing pelvic floor exercises.

apuppydaviesisforlife · 07/12/2008 11:55

i'm not usually one to fret the age thing but tbh i think it does matter here - gorgeous young things can somehow get away with all kinds of stuff that really shouldn't be allowed (like wet look leggings!) when we mere mortals can't.

zenandtheartofbaking · 07/12/2008 16:09

If you are worried about your age you could wear them out, at first, in a grown-up-goth look. That's pretty safe. Boots would have to be a bit glam too. Not necessarily heeled (though that will make you look slimmer). Just not brown suede or anything like that.
Thing about white shirt/certain flat boots is that it can look too studenty or low-rent 80s revival.
All Saints are doing a lot of goth-glam at the moment.
Choose a top long enough to cover the bottom area - nightmare leggings area unless young Christy Turlington.

goth

serin · 07/12/2008 16:17

By Eck!

Serin remembers wearing these aged 15 many moons ago.

.........Goes off giggling to remind best friend what we looked like!!

janeite · 07/12/2008 16:26

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Even beautiful, stick-insect teenagers look ridiculous in these.

CountViscount · 07/12/2008 16:34

I like the idea - but yes only for evening wear - hardly toddler group wear.
ALl saints stuff looks utterly post apopcalyptic imo.

ithinkimtallandblonde · 07/12/2008 20:04

I really like them,I think sass and bide started /revived this fashion with there rats pants and i don't think either of them are under 30 and always look great sass and bide

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 07/12/2008 20:05

gotta laugh at dragonbutter's response

smurfgirl · 07/12/2008 20:08

Hideous. I actually have a facebook group devoted to how hideous they are. Grim. You may as well wear normal leggings and wet yourself.

zenandtheartofbaking · 07/12/2008 21:26

This is great Madamant. you've chosen a truly controversial and divisive item of apparel.

Absolutely dare you to get them and wear them on the school run.

Then you can tell us what it was like to truly live the avant-garde fashion experience.

Certainly better than being dull and conformist.

samsonara · 07/12/2008 21:42

I think they would look quite cool with a long sheer tunic with a vest underneath, or a top that skims the top of the thighs, unless you have legs like
these
