Just tell me if i hurt and how much, can you compare the aoin to something as well please. I have a split group of people who claim it was agony and some who say it didn't really hurt at all.

BE HONEST!

It's the outline that hurts the most but I quite liked it the bit in the middle doens't hurt much at all iirc.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 06/12/2008 23:37

The outline is like when you have an injection but dragged out iyswim.

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:37

had my second last week and i love it! where are you thinking of having it, the pain it actually quite nice!

misdee · 06/12/2008 23:40

after you have it done, it feels like a bad case of sunburn.

christmasBarbielovesSanta · 06/12/2008 23:40

more annoying then painful, believe me im a wimp, scared of needles but i would have another!

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:40

Erm im unsure i was thinking ot the top of my boob - i have alot of flesh there so i figure it will hurt less!

I want to get 2 but don't know where to have the second one.

EsmeWeatherwax · 06/12/2008 23:41

It really depends on where you're getting it, and how big it is, and off course on your own personal tolerance for pain. I've got one that took 45 mins, on the fleshy part of my shoulder, and it was fine. My second took three hours, is right on my spine, and hurt a lot more. just got a bit worn down by it towards the end. I've heard tell that the underside of your arms, ribs and chest are the worst bits. Having said all that, its not that bad at all. Not like breaking a bone, or childbirth or anything serious.

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:42

Its funny my dad is one of the 'arderst' (says in a cockney accent) blokes i know and he has a few tots and says they hurt alot! My sister is a whimp she crys at any sort of pain and said it didn't hurt her at all it was just uncomfortable.

OP posts:
LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 06/12/2008 23:42

It's quite prickly, but nothing compared to childbirth! (I've had both - two tattoos and two babies.)

christmasBarbielovesSanta · 06/12/2008 23:43

what are you thinking of having done?

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:44

Wee i got ds2 out with out any pain relief so i figure my pain tolerence isn't to bad hmm if the chest hurts im not sure where to have it - i want it somewhere people will see it so not belly or lower back or bum but i don't really fancy it at the top of my arm tbh.

Decisions, decisions!

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 06/12/2008 23:44

i have one on my lower back
mostly it felt like a reeeeally annoying little insect or somethign scratching away incessantly at my back. i had to suppress the urge to swat the guys hand away about a hundred times overe the hour or so that it took.

Jackstini · 06/12/2008 23:45

Ooh - will be interested. I want to get something just above my cs scar but have a v low pain threshold!
Would rubbing in ibuprofen gel beforehand help? (I am such a wuss )

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:46

Well the first one i want is a celtic heart i designed (i have designed a few friends tatttos) with my boys names either side, nothing big just a small one in black. Then i want to have the 2 masks like the theatre symbol somewhere.

It depends massively on where you are having it and what your pain threshold is like (because people really vary a lot in how they experience pain).
I didn;t mind having my first one done very much (small, on left hip but in the chubby bit) but having my second one (back of right shoulder, about 3 inches across) I howled and cried and puked. Some people regard the pain as an Important Rite of Passage and get either a sexual or mystical kick out of it - I hated it but wanted the end result (lovely tattoo) so endured it.
My recommendations are, first pick a design that looks good and means something to you, but with a meaning that will endure - and second, go to a tattooist that you have a personal recommendation to visit ie he/she has done a good job on one of your friends. Or go to a tattoo fair and get done by the tattooist with the longest queue.

christmasBarbielovesSanta · 06/12/2008 23:46

look at this web site, you might get some ideas
Mine is the star on my wrist, to remember the baby i lost...wish my bum looked that that though!
tattoos!

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:49

I will go to the tattooist that did/done my sisters and my BIL's ones he is a very patient man.
I went with my sister and he was really kind.

I have had several piercings in that past and that pain didn't phase me at all but thats different isn't it, quick prick and its done!

OP posts:
LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 06/12/2008 23:49

It will hurt, but will be over quickly and (I think) so worth it. I love mine.

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 06/12/2008 23:53

Anyone had one done on thier neck? Does it really hurt there or not? I would like my stage symobl on my neck just tiny but on the side not at the back.

OP posts:
LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 06/12/2008 23:55

It will really hurt, but not for very long.

SparklyGothKat · 06/12/2008 23:59

I have a large piece on my back, will add a pic to my profile. It starts on my shoulder and goes down the length of my back. The worse part was when the tattooist was doing near my spine, that really hurt

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 07/12/2008 00:03

Ohh i think i may book one after xmas! I will have the heart done first for my boys (dunno where yet?)

Silly question but........... I have a large supply of Amatop cream (the stuff they put on kids to numb hands for blood tests) could i get away with putting that on for a little bit before i go? [wimp emotion]

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 07/12/2008 00:08

pic on profile now, more has been done to it since

CharleeInPantoPapaerChains · 07/12/2008 00:10
