Just tell me if i hurt and how much, can you compare the aoin to something as well please. I have a split group of people who claim it was agony and some who say it didn't really hurt at all.

BE HONEST!

about the size of an old 50p coin

Yes it hurts like Feck - but I think traditionally part of the appeal was that men would have them to show that they could take the pai IYKWIM

Take some Nurofen Plus 20 minutes before you have it done, to take the edge off the pain

BTW having a tattoo remoed hurts about 10 times more than having a tattoo done!

The 2 ankle ones didnt hurt much, top of the foot was a killer, one on lower back i truely didnt feel and chatted whole time.

I was always told that anything going over bone was more painful - mine skittered along the bottom of a rib and I def felt it more there. Also, any large areas of black will hurt more than colour, as more density of needles. But the thing I mainly remember was the guy's elbow in my groin to keep the skin taut. For groin read bladder - still not sure how I made it out with dry jeans

i have 5, one on each ankle (both wrap round), a large one on the bottom of my back (spans the width of my back), one by my bikini line (about 2 inches square), and one on my bum again about 2 inches square.

it is painfull to start off with but you do sort of get used to it after the first 5 mins and then its like a warm dragging tickle almost.

around the foot/ ankle area is the most painfull (but again wasnt too bad after about 5 mins) ime, but everybody is different

I have one on my lower back, it didn't hurt, felt like someone was scratching my back. i really want another one - just can't afford it yet!

lizandlulu · 10/12/2008 19:40

isnt it funny how people differ. with your first, i think the build up to it makes it worse than it it. like going to the dentist, you worry and imagine how horrible it is goingto be, but once you have had it done, you realise it wasnt as bad as you thought

I have three tattoos. When I had the first one I hadn't eaten for ages and I felt terrible. I later read that you should eat something stogdey before your tattoo, so I did for the other two. I have to say the whole experience, while not enjoyable, was much more tolerable the 2nd & 3rd times. Your body releases endorphins to kill the pain so taking on fuel beforehand helps your body cope. I going to get number four in the summer next year so it can't be that bad! Good luck and choose wisely!

Obviously cannot hurt THAT much. Not enough to stop my dear mother having a tiny shamrock tattooed on her back (under bra line) to mark being 60
