Don't they get really dirty and wet easily?

they always look manky

Flier · 07/11/2008 16:10

so they're not practical at all?

TheBlonde · 07/11/2008 16:16

they look ugly. Amazing what poeple will wear if some magazine says its 'fashionable'

jellybeans · 07/11/2008 16:28

I just tend to think people who wear labels or latest trends (ie what someone somewhere has decided they should wear/buy) look abit 'follow the crowd'. I prefer the generic ones if any.

Jewelsandgems · 07/11/2008 17:23

If you have the money and want the real thing then why not? I have had mine for 2 years, they are not dirty at all, still look as new and keep my feet warm and toasty when out with the buggy, or out for a walk in the woods.

MadamePlatypus · 07/11/2008 17:29

They are a comfy pair of slippers to put on after being in the sea. Not sure why Australians need them as presumably it is fairly warm when they go surfing, but I can imagine (I don't actually have any) that they would go down really well if you had just been in the sea in December and you were having your hot chocolate on the beach.

samsonara · 07/11/2008 17:31

Er no they are 'Uggsly', now if they had been called 'toastie fluffies' I may have been fooled into wanting a pair for pottering in the house!

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 07/11/2008 17:54

No idea. I have got a pair but they are different to the usual ones you see - mine are knee high and made of black leather, with a sheepskin turnover at the top. They are great and obviously more waterproof than the usual sort.

I don't really like the others much, the cardi ones are quite nice though.

aDad · 07/11/2008 18:03

Did you see Ronnie Wood was photographed wearing some the other day?

Looked awful. Mind you, I don't like them on anyone actually

Liffey · 07/11/2008 18:18

I don't know. I think they're disgusting. UNLESS you want to look shorter, and fatter than you really are, then maybe they're just the ticket. Lots of young girls today are 6 foot and 8 stone, so I'll admit, on them, they don't look bad. I'd look like an eskimo in them.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 07/11/2008 18:22

No!

These are mine, they are lovely!

Jewelsandgems · 07/11/2008 19:08

I think there is much more ugly footwear around - crocs for one are totally disgusting and style-less.

Ronaldinhio · 07/11/2008 19:27

fugly slippers for yummy mummys

Flier · 09/11/2008 20:16

Flight which ones are yours? there are loads on that page, the knee high ones look quite...

MrsMattie · 09/11/2008 20:19

They're warm and comfy. Urm...that's it, innit?

I bloody love mine and I couldn't give a flying fuck what other people think

tissy · 09/11/2008 20:22

they're warm even when wet! I wore my Ugg-like Celtic Sheepskin boots to a Halloween show and firework display and it poured with rain all afternoon. My feet were lovely and warm, I didn't realise they were wet until I got home and took them off!

Flier · 09/11/2008 20:23

but can they be washed?

OP posts:
brimfull · 09/11/2008 20:23

I quite like them

haven't got any but I think they look nice with skinnies

llareggub · 09/11/2008 20:24

20 odd years ago we all used to wear them to the beach to keep our feet warm after surfing. They were not a fashion statement, and no where near as expensive as they are now!

tissy · 09/11/2008 20:25

Celtic Sheepskin ones can be machine washed, I would magine you can wash Uggs as well

MrsMattie · 09/11/2008 20:27

I have a few pairs. The black ones are so easy to keep clean it's unreal. They just don't show dirt at all. I wipe them clean with a damp cloth occasionally and that's it. They are also waterproof. My feet have never, ever felt wet in them even in the heaviest rain.

The chestnut and chocolate brown ones show dirt more easily, so I have the proper cleaning kit from Ugg for those - only use it once a month or so. I would never buy the light coloured ones, though - too high maintenance.

To be honest, they are just so easy and comfy if you are running around with kids all day, I can't imagine wearing anything else in the winter.

So, that's my Ugg essay

Flier · 09/11/2008 20:36

hmm, very interesting. So how much would I expect to pay for a pair of Uggs or these Celtic Sheepskin ones?
Cos I do like th elook of them, especially with skinny jeans ( would need to get some magic knickers too mind you)

OP posts:
tissy · 09/11/2008 20:55

these are the ones I have
