Mums of boys, what do they wear on their feet in winter ???

Last year I managed to find Ds (5) a bargain pair of Timberland boots, which he wore to death, but this year I can't find any within budget that I like.

In the summer he wore converse and crocs. His converse stil fit, but aren't warm or waterproof enough for winter weather.

What are your little lads wearing ??

DS1 (14) is wearing converse and will remain in them until spring when he will get a new pair of converse!!!
DS2 (9) is mostly wearing trainers.

2point4kids · 03/11/2008 19:23

I just got DS1 (3) a pair of ugg look a likes from Next! They look so cosy, he's been wearing them round the house too cos he likes them so much lol

mabanana · 03/11/2008 19:23

Clarks trainers -7. He would like to wear Uggs like his sister because they are so cosy, but knows this is not going to pass the peer group test!

mabanana · 03/11/2008 19:23

Wellies when it's wet, for puddle jumping.

scaryfucker · 03/11/2008 19:24

try ebay if your budget doesn't strtch to new Timberlands

I got my ds (8) a pair for 7 quid and they are great for winter

IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:24

Hmm am not really keen on trainers tbh. No particular reason, but ds doesn't wear any sportswear at all.

That makes me sound really snobby and I am so not lol.

I love his converse, as does he, but find that if we are out and it pees it down, they get soaked through and then he can't wear them again the same day.

It has to be black "Timbies" for my boy. Have you tried e-bay?

AmIWhatAndWhy · 03/11/2008 19:26

DS (nearly 3) has a pair of electric blue DR martins from the outlet shop and some red wellies.

IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:26

Not sure about getting 2nd hand boots tbh. I love 2nd hand clothes but do try and buy new shoes if possible.

Blimey I sound like a snob again

Have looked on Clarks site but there is only 1 pair that I even kind of like.

I looked on ebay for Clarks too, but Ds is a H fitting and there was non.

Trainers or Clarks-style shoes, wellies if it's wet. I only think about fit/comfort, not style, to be honest.

Nbg · 03/11/2008 19:27

DS1 has some leather boots from Vertbaudet and some leather trainers which I got in the Next sale.

Oh and wellies.

IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:28

The new Timberland ones are about £25 on ebay, with about another £5 p&p.

There's a site I keep seeing linked to on here that does clarkes startrite etc at bargain prices, can anyone recall it?

KatieScarlett2833 · 03/11/2008 19:29

That's not bad. I've sent MIL shopping for new Timberlands as she is in USA at the moment on holiday. Much cheaper.

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 03/11/2008 19:29
  • I keep reading this thread title as "Muslim" boys - what do they wear on their feet

Keep thinking well probably the same as all the other boys

Trainers or wellies out of school, school shoes in school.

Do other boys have more than that then?

Nemoandthefireworks · 03/11/2008 19:35

ds has clarks boots that come to his ankle for school/if its quite cold. He also has a pair of wellies and a pair of trainers and he is 5

IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:36

Ds only has 2 pair at any one time normally. School shoes, and converse, although he did have fake crocs aswell in the summer, but they are only £3.

IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:37

My mum said for him to just wear his school shoes actually, but I have a thing about shoes being worn with jeans etc , I hate it.

OP posts:
IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:39

These are the only Clarks ones I like and I don't think they come in a H fitting.

OP posts:
Nemoandthefireworks · 03/11/2008 19:43

they are similair to ds boots but I got him plain black so he can use them for school..tad boring but dual purpose

IllegallyBrunette · 03/11/2008 19:45

Good idea Nemo. I just seem to have a mental block on jeans etc being worn with black shoes/boots, on boys and men anyway.

The Clarks ones are more than I want to pay really. Might ask xp to chip in.

Mostly DS1 is wearing "indoor" Clarks shoes, but for running around outside either wellies or some "walking boots" that cost £10 from a Sport shop - one with offers all the time. They are great. Karrimor.

Pinkchampagne · 03/11/2008 19:48

DS1 has school shoes, next trainers (smart ones not sporty style) & a pair of smart shoes from next, which he hasn't even worn yet.

DS2 has school shoes, horrible clarks trainers which I was conned into buying because they had a silly hidden car, some converse style pumps, which were bought for the summer, but he still wears if it's dry, and a pair of brown suede smarter shoes. Good job he has a good selection, as he keeps leaving shoes round his dad's house, when he gets bathed round there!
