Was thinking No7, revlon, loreal which is the best for the money? What should I get?

No 7 but not that cheap

rimmel is fine i think or collection 2000

boots natural collection mascara is £1.95

get to superdrug and they have 3 products for a fiver (forgotten its name)

expatinscotland · 17/10/2008 18:13

I would go and get it!

I did this once at an ex bf's but really couldn't go back because we had a horrible row .

No. 7 and Bourjois are great but they're not that cheap, unless you're looking to kit out a spare bag for emergencies.

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 17/10/2008 18:14

Bourjois

twinsetandpalls · 17/10/2008 18:15

Yes I thought No7 not that cheap but checked online and it is 3 for 2,

I probably mean reasonable as I don;t want to buy make up I will never use again. Just can't afford to go and kit myself out in everything that I need from my usual supplier.

JodieO · 17/10/2008 18:15

I'd go an get it too. What about Maybelline if you have to buy more?

JodieO · 17/10/2008 18:15

And not an

twinsetandpalls · 17/10/2008 18:16

I can;t go and get it, school is locked up for the weekend.

OP posts:
twinsetandpalls · 17/10/2008 18:17

I was thinking about using it as a spare kit.

I use a lovely one bourjois number 62, really light, gives good coverage, a very 'normal' colour. It is a pump dispenser with a clear plastic lid. Called something like repulpant boosting collegen. I've used loads of make-ups. Expensive and mid-range. I#ve never used n17 or collection 2000.

simperingbint · 17/10/2008 18:19

actually rate rimmel quite highly, their new lasting finish foundation really does last..

collection 2000 very cheap and not that bad either , their all in one powder foundation and cheek stain are really quite good

Liffey · 17/10/2008 18:19

Actually the lid is see through pink plastic.

CuppaTeaJanice · 17/10/2008 18:19

Collection 2000 - especially the mascara, far better than many expensive brands.

Barry M dazzle dust for really funky eyeshadow.

Look at the teenage ranges too - tend to be a bit cheaper.

Boots are giving out £5 no 7 vouchers at the mo - don't know how much you have to spend to get one though.

expatinscotland · 17/10/2008 18:19

No. 7 and Bourjois all the way then.

And Miss Sport Fab Lash waterproof mascara.

WayneAteASlob · 17/10/2008 18:20

I've done this before (except went away to a wedding!). I'd say buy your normal make up. It will be pricey, but buying a new range could be a false economy - if you don't like it you'll only use i t the once.
And when you eventually run out of your own stuff, you'll have replacements to hand.

twinsetandpalls · 17/10/2008 18:23

I once had a rimmel sipstick that dd had bought me and it was the best lipstick I ever had.

ilovemydog · 17/10/2008 18:23

boots for samples - or really cheeky, use the testers there... (except for mascara, obviously)

expatinscotland · 17/10/2008 18:24

Barbara Daly's Make Up range in Tesco also has some good stuff.

The concealer (recommended by Aitch and she was spot on!) is fab, as are the lipsticks, the foundation primer and the pressed powder.

The shadows are good, too.

browntrout · 17/10/2008 18:26

another vote for barry m. most superdrug stores stock it and some larger boots ones. they have the biggest range of eyes, lips and nail colours for hardly any cash. i often buy mac, chanel, benefit etc but their dazzle dust is fab!

expatinscotland · 17/10/2008 18:27

Yes, Barry M is great, too. The nail varnishes really, really last.

twinsetandpalls · 17/10/2008 18:38

Ruby I did think about doing that!

Wayne I think just to buy the bear essentials in my usual brand will be at least £150 if not more and I would like to spend half that.

OP posts:
jojosmaman · 17/10/2008 18:39

Tesco foundation and concealer are great emergency spares, cheap, do the job and in most cases available after Boots has closed!

twinsetandpalls · 17/10/2008 18:40

My tesco is a small one so no makeup and nearest department store is also too far away.

I like Barry M eye shadows, did not know superdrug had them. Again no superdrug here, my town has a boots and that is it, although I could go into Poole tomorrow but didn;t want to as I have no makeup!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 17/10/2008 19:58

how about going into Poole early doors, so even if you have no makeup it's not that big a deal?

definitely worth it for a Superdrug, a larger Boots and/or a Tesco if you're going to kit out a spare bag.
