Heeeeelp!!!
I am a size 14 top and size 12 bottom...but big ribcage not boobs.
Shortwaisted so no belts.
The shops seemed empty of party dresses today but I only made it to H&M, Next and New Look....
TIA

That shift looks promising thank you. Free returns too.

Lapin - I am getting the red shoes you linked to in the black. They are every bit as luscious in real life and very tottery .

They have the M&S one in our local store so I can actually try that on Thurs thank you.

Also like the black dress and thinking of ordering that with the shoes for the Christmas parties.......thanks all.

I flew around this afternoon with 3 yo dd in tow.
The black square toed heels are amazing but I was between sizes so no can do .
Tried the shift dresses in Oasis (in sale) but no shape at all unfortunately.
Tried the red Debenhams dress too but 12 just too tight and 14 too big....
Lots of black dresses but they are my last resort.
Tried http://www.warehouse.co.uk/fcp/product/fashion/Dresses/TEAL-DOUBLE-DRAPE-COWL-NECK-DR/8188 this on in House of Fraser which is luscious but too 'fashionable' with the hem for me to spend £65 on....
I have tomorrow morning without children to try and find Wallis and do Coast sale (investment piece ) and TopShop.....
If nothing I will be going for the black dress with silver shoes and sparkly cardi....

Then I will have a dress to find for the Christmas ball.........

Hello. That dress looks lovely. I bet it looks fab on. Sadly it looks a bit too clingy round the tummy for me, plus having been shopping today I have concluded I really have no boobs. I am right inbetween sizes. Need the 14 for the bottom part of my ribs , but then it is a bit ..ahem...baggy at the bust so think I would have the same prob as you if you think it needs boobs to fill it....Thanks though.

Today I bought this. It was marked up at £50 but was £30 at the till. It is a bit puffy in the skirt but I think this makes it a bit trendy and the length is good. I have a little crop cardi from Tesco and black or purple opaques and heels. I like it I think. Gives me a waist. I also bought a black floral dress from Tesco that was reduced from £40 to £30 and then was £15 when I got to the till. This is a bit longer so a bit more mumsy but more normal skirt style so DH prefers.....
And I very oddly bought this which looks as cute as can be on but I think will be taken back as not quite right for a wedding I don't think.....

Was going to suggest this
www.principles.co.uk/fcp/product/-/DRESSES/Navy-Burnout-Swirl-Dress/7994
but see you have found something (which bizarrely is quite like the one in my link).
Enjoy the wedding...

VanillaPumpkin · 09/10/2008 22:19

Ooh, that is lovely. Navy is a really good colour for me but I never seem to find anything in it. It is all black normally.

Principles dresses often well cut too and I agree that colours other than black are hard to find.

VanillaPumpkin · 10/10/2008 17:42

Yes, I have a Principles dress I bought in the sale 10 years ago that I wore to our Christmas ball last year. Great cut, very flattering.

well i found some great dresses at matalan and about 20 quid too. You can then use the extra cash flow on assessories to jazz it up and a killer pair of shoes. Honeslty matalan has some great offers and i never normally shop in there
