I can't afford Dermalogica anymore. What's a good cheaper alternative?

For acne-prone skin, even though I'm 34

I'll eventually need scrub, mask, moisturiser, the works really. Meanwhile I will eke out every last drop of my beloved Dermalogica products (they really made my skin fabulous for the first time ever).

Thank you!

Thanks Charlotte. The professional sizes are double the size though for the same price!

As a lover of dermalogica I went through this about 3 months ago...
I'm back on dermalogica now after breakouts from the alternatives
The trial sizes on offer worked out cheapest

Terrible spotty skin here also. But also now crepey and aging at 36. I haven't tried Dermalogica. Is it the Medibac kit I should try first? Or is there something better for older acne prone skin?

WildBillfemale · 30/10/2014 07:02

I use Dermalogica special cleansing gel sometimes and have found the Boots basic sensitive face wash just the same (and no more than £3).

The basic one in the blue packaging that's the unperfumed version of their cheap cucumber range

I'm a dermalogica therapist. Do not go straight to medi back. Whilst the products are gentle they can still be too much.

How is your skin in general, tell me about your oiliness? Is it all over or just on your t panel.

It is hard to recommend without seeing your skin but I can point you in the general direction!

Oops jolly didn't look at the date. Daily microfoliant is good but as it's so gentle you would still need to use either prep scrub or gentle cream exfoliant twice a week as well.

I use it in the morning in the shower as it's a powder and goes everywhere. You could get away without using it as the difference it makes is quite minor.

Choco - thanks for the offer of help. I didn't notice it was an old thread either!

I have an oily t-zone. Rest of face is fairly normal. I get spots on chin/around mouth and also on cheeks. Would love to know what kit might help or 2-3 products I could start with.

I have been using these guys for my dermalogica daily microfoliant which they recommended and I have been so impressed www.thefacebeauty.co.uk be good to hear if any of you think the same

I really wouldn't if you can find a way, and it works for you.
Dermalogica has totally cleared my acne prone sensitive skin. I now use ultra calming cleanser and active moist daily and also the exfoliater a few times a week.
It's amazing. Been using it for about a year and a half now. Before that I struggled with hormonal acne for about 15 years (age 35 now). It was horrible sore cystic acne all over my chin. I tried so many different products, Clinique, Clarins, Simple, and many many others including just water. I was also on antibiotics which helped for a while but soon started with a vengeance with stopping. I also tried various diets, cutting out sugar, dairy, going organic. Nothing worked. The turning point for me was a dermalogica facial and the therapist recommending the ultra calming range. It has honestly changed my life. I can now wear no make up (although I still do wear a bit) my skin is so clear. Make -up wise I only use some bare minerals powder to let my skin breathe, so I think this helps too.
I do still have some scarring but this is fading a bit over time. Sorry for the long story! And I don't work for dermalogica either.
I just would not use anything else ever and would sacrifice anything other than my skincare range. It totally works, for me. x
