Have you had a cosmetic tatoo?

What was it like? Did it hurt? Did it work? Does it look like the real thing?

I once had wonderful thick black eyebrows, but have lost them. I'm contemplating the idea of getting them tatooed, but don't want to look like a mad woman who has over-plucked and tried to draw her eyebrows back on with eyeliner!

How do I find out about this sort of thing?

bump?

I have no experience of this at all, but having tattoos on your face is a big risk. What if you don't like it? Anyway, Black eyebrows are unlikely to suit you when you're 60 TBH.

I know there is some semi permanent eyebrow make up around, that would be less risky IMO. Haven't used that either though...

PrettyCandles · 02/10/2008 19:00

True, but that's part of what I need to find out. I imagine a tattoo would be more of a tinting than a painting-on, IYSWIM. Also, don't they fade after some years anyway?

What is semi-permanent eyebrow makeup?

I haven't but would love to
a friend of mine has had it and looks fab, sec and I'll get the name of the artist who did hers, she's quite famous apparently, brb

DeJaVous · 02/10/2008 19:07

I'm sure it does look fab when it's just been done, but how does it look after 10, 20 or 30 years? Can you find out?

'tis horribly risky IMO. Obviously less so if you are done be a fantastic artist, but still. It's on your face...

akhems · 02/10/2008 19:09

it's Karen Betts, google her

DeJaVous · 02/10/2008 19:12

Her work does look good!

akhems · 02/10/2008 19:39

my friend's been done about 6-7 years and it looks great.. very natural but makes her face alive without needing makeup, if that makes sense?

PrettyCandles · 03/10/2008 14:03

Thank you for that link. This is the first time I've ever seen someone else like me!

Yes, DeJaVous, it's on my face. Ususally I think I've come to terms with losing my eyebrows - but often enough I feel like a freak.

SparklyGothKat · 03/10/2008 14:24

I am actually really interested, do they go scabby? Tattoos do (SGK rubs her new one) so am wondering if its the same, do you get a scabby mouth, for instance?

CountessDracula · 03/10/2008 14:24

watch out you will look like mrs wildebeest

SparklyGothKat · 03/10/2008 14:25

no its jackie Stallone! scary woman with very badly done makeup tattoos

lulumama · 03/10/2008 14:26

OH MY GOD !! cd, her surgeon should surely be disbarred or whatver it is that happens to medics.. that is frightening! although i suppose, she asked to look like that.. bizarre..

AuntieMaggie · 03/10/2008 14:28

My friend had her eyebrows done a few years ago - and yes it is a needle and it does hurt and bleed. Looks good though. But i wouldn't have anything like this near my eyes

MadreInglese · 03/10/2008 14:32

Personally I'd be a too concerned about it being unchangeable, if I had made permanent my eyebrows as they were 10 years ago I'd be devastated now, fashions and styles change IYSWIM

A friend of mine has hers dyed about once a year (she is very fair) and that looks good and is only semi-perm

I'm trying to be a good sport here, but, TBH, I'm getting upset at the unpleasant pictures. Please stop posting things like this. I'm serious about this. Try shaving your eyebrows off and going on the school run - maybe you'll understand what this feels like for me!

lulumama · 03/10/2008 14:34

if you do get it done, use someone reputable and well known and well established. do you have any eyebrow hair left that could be dyed?
