Are these nice or have I lost my mind?

See, I was searching ebay for knitted boots for my baby, and came across these which as you can see are for adults. Google research revealed them to be, as you can see, Ugg boots and therefore fashionable but v expensive (I would obv buy the ebay rip-offs... in grey)

Now, to me they look quite funky, warm, comfy, like that they are not black but would go with anything - skirts/dresses and trousers. Are they really, or have I lost it in the depths of newborn sleep deprivation, or about to buy granny boots? (wouldn't normally ask but really can't make my mind up...)

Actually, have just seen the care advice (avoid contact with liquids), they'd be hopelessly impractical for winter wouldn't they?

i like htem, i have some in black, but i would like some grey ones

lou33 · 01/10/2008 11:37

i believe you can get some kind of weatherproofing spray

Carmenere · 01/10/2008 11:37

Quite a few mners have these I think. I think they are ok.

MrsMattie · 01/10/2008 11:39

Ah, yes, the Ugg cardi boot. Very fashionable with spoilt north London teenagers at the moment

orangina · 01/10/2008 11:39

I know they are fashionable, but NO.... don't do it...

(sits back and waits to be shouted at by all ugg cardi wearers.... )

zippitippitoes · 01/10/2008 11:40

i saw someone in these at the weekend they are quite slouchy

they looked more rust coloured than those

i thought they were quite nice

but too expensive

CatIsSleepy · 01/10/2008 11:41

zippitippitoes · 01/10/2008 11:42

MadreInglese · 01/10/2008 11:43

Looks like carpet to me

lou33 · 01/10/2008 11:47

mine do not slouch

and they were free

Megglevache · 01/10/2008 11:47

I saw them in house of fraser- they looked really nice I thought but I am a bit funny about Uggs TBH.

Umlellala · 01/10/2008 11:49

Is that directed at me, MrsMattie?

squeaver · 01/10/2008 11:50

Oh yes Mrs M, they're EVERYWHERE round here at the mo.

Also popular with school run mummies who only need to worry about contact with liquid on the short hop and skip from the 4x4 to the school gate.

MrsMattie · 01/10/2008 11:55

Good old Ridley Rd market! I miss it!@Umlellala.

There used to be a stall down there that sold great rip off shoes. I got my son's Crocs there

bundle · 01/10/2008 11:56

angrypixie · 01/10/2008 13:12

Bleugh

anyfucker · 01/10/2008 13:40

lol

I saw a yummy mummy wearing these the other day in the pissing rain. Her look of distaste and panic as she tried to keep her cardy uggs out of the muddy puddles was a picture .

I rather like em actually as they go with the rest of my look ie. laid back, dressed down, funky battered jeans etc but just too impractical for me and not enough completely dry days to justify the expense

get some biker boots instead

Umlellala · 01/10/2008 14:39

Yes, I think you are right. Come on then, help me find some cool practical boots (had Caterpillar mardy ones in tan which I loved but they were too small after pregnancy).

Need to be under £50 though...

Hideous

schwotz · 01/10/2008 16:53

Top tip, wear leg warmers over normal boots. Or at a push just wear socks over normal boots.

Umlellala · 01/10/2008 16:56

(Is now the time to admit I do wear legwarmers... albeit over shoes not boots...)
