I'm over three quarter length sleeves and while you're at it could you please also tell them I hate hoodies.

Totally agree about the size thing. I have a long body and it drives me insane when i see alovely top or esp t shirts andthey are just not quite long enough

and why oh why is it impossible to buy a longsleeved shirt/tunic/top in October?
everything has short sleeves. you cannot wear a cardigan over a tunic. it looks wanky.

PrimulaVeris · 26/09/2008 12:05

That a V-neck for normal or professional tops means a medium-sized V. Not a bloody cleavage-plunger that displays my (lack of) assets to all & sundry

snowleopard · 26/09/2008 12:18

I am fed up with too-short tops and trousers and especially sleeves. Dear High Street, how about a proper range of lengths so that I can have a top I like with long body and arms? And shorter people can have clothes to fit too. The range of heights is wide just like the range of weight, yet it's largely ignored.

And can I have quirky patterns and prints and edgy styles but in quality fabrics? It's either edgy and flimsy, or quality and frumpy. Grrr.

llynnnn · 26/09/2008 12:21

why do most WINTER cardigans and jumpers have 3 quarter length sleeves, my arms WILL be cold!!!

stop bringing out all these tops have flow out from under the bust, they make me look 6 months pregnant and i dont have THAT much of a belly!!

Jux · 26/09/2008 13:12

Short people can be fat too! I'm sick of getting things which leave me with a 4 inch train because I'm also size 14.

CurrantBun · 26/09/2008 16:16

That the ranges available for petites need to include more than just 20 pairs of black polyester-mix trousers (yes, Next, I'm talking to you!)

And to Gap - why do you make jeans with a 30" leg length in every size except the smallest, where the shortest leg length is 32"? That makes no sense!

French Connection - why offer a range of leg lengths in jeans but not in any of your other trousers? We don't all have a standard 34" inside leg (I wish!!)

JackieNo · 26/09/2008 16:18

I love 3/4 length sleeve - I have short arms, and 'normal' length sleeves are always far too long for me. So please don't stop doing them altogether - just do a range of things.

CurrantBun · 26/09/2008 16:18

Oh - and why, when all this season's tops are long tunic-style things, are so many coats and jackets short? Half your cardigan hanging out the bottom of your coat isn't a good look.

And why are there no casual coats anywhere? I don't want a formal work-style thing for taking DS out for walks - and equally I don't want a frumpy mac: I want a stylish AND functional mac!

Upwind · 26/09/2008 16:21

yes, oh yes, to the "people can have narrow feet", it is such a pain trying to find shoes!!!

and pregnant women can have long legs, why does the high street have longer leg lengths in everything except maternity wear?

and tall women have long arms so coats should be available with longer arms! You can always have them taken in if you are tiny, but you can't have them taken out!

TheProvincialLady · 26/09/2008 16:24

Yes and just because you are a size 6 and only 5'2" does not mean you only dress in shiny polyester office clothes.

SallyRhodes · 29/09/2008 12:20

I've had such a laugh reading all these messages. Thanks. - so - who is making clothes that really suit the 40+ year old complete with bumps and lumps of 3 kids? (PS i don't want to look like an old sack)

VanillaPumpkin · 29/09/2008 19:45

And Tesco and Next's sizes this year are madness. I consider myself a size 12 bottom half so why their size 10 skinny jeans were baggy on me I have no idea....they did have a more decent arse coverage though surprisingly...

kt14 · 29/09/2008 19:49

that 100% acrylic jumpers may be cheap to produce and feel soft in the shop, but look shit the second they're washed and need to be binned, therefore not being a bargain at all. Next, are you listening?

Swedes · 29/09/2008 19:56

Please ignore the recent scientific studies about horizontal stripes looking no more fattening than vertical stripes. Horizontal stripes make anyone over a size 12 look like a truck.

...that the 'Tall' section (if it exists) shouldn't only consist of some size 8 skinny jeans and a few long sleeved black tops (why?)...and that tall women want skirts and dresses that fit...and that 'tall' doesn't always mean 5'8 and bony (I am 5'11 and a 12-14, Goddamit!).

...that no pregnant woman wants to wear any fashion that features a big bow sitting roughly where her enormous, milk-leaking bosom is (Next? Mothercare? WTF is going on, here?)....and that pregnant women need coats....and that we would like pyjamas that aren't pastel pink or featuring a teddy bears motif...

...that nobody looks good in purple...or mustard....or any of those ghastly acid brights that only 13 yr olds would contemplate wearing anyway...

VanillaPumpkin · 29/09/2008 20:06

Keep the purple coming....I look good in purple.

VanillaPumpkin · 29/09/2008 20:06

Ditch the mustard though ...

Horton · 29/09/2008 21:29

"we would like pyjamas that aren't pastel pink or featuring a teddy bears motif.."

Oh yes yes yes. I'm not even pregnant but it is insanely hard to buy a dressing gown that isn't either pale pink, white or a totally unsuitable size (ie a man's one). And I want some nice plain soft warm pyjamas in a dark colour, maybe navy or green or purple, with no cutesy slogans and no appliquéd teddies. And no sodding sparkly bits. I'm not 12, thanks very much.

I have to say, I quite love the mustard but I can see that I'm the only person on the planet who does as it's always v cheap in the sales.

snickersnack · 29/09/2008 22:00

Horton, you need The Pyjama Room. Fearfully expensive but worth remortgaging your house for. Sooo comfy.

Horton · 29/09/2008 22:11

Oh my God, those are gorgeous. Thank you! Coincidentally, I have a birthday coming up...

It's been said already, but that tall women do get pregnant too. I think I may have to wear skirts or dresses to work the whole duration and jeans every weekend...
