Fake layering is horrible. Soon they will be sewing knickers into trousers.

That sizing up from a size 8 to a 22 does not work. Larger women have different proportions to smaller ones. Especially tummies!!! and arms!!! FFS Years of swimming and lifting hefty kids has given me biceps that I can't force into skinny sleeves

cheesesarnie · 25/09/2008 14:07

that people in cornwall would like to have same things in shops.i think we get high st trends about 6 months laterthen were so last season

EyeballsintheSky · 25/09/2008 14:12

And that being fat doesn't automatically equal tall. My trousers are constantly dragging along the floor making me look scruffy whatever I wear. Please make more trousers in a shorter length and don't put them all in the size 6 petit range.

And yes, I'm a size 18-20. I don't want my upper arms and shoulders on show. Oh and I also don't want flamin' butterflies and sparkly bits all over my daywear. I am not 70 and heading for a lunchtime gin at the British Legion thanks very much.

tonton · 25/09/2008 14:12

That empire lines look awful on anyone over 11.

That shorts should NEVER be formal.

Cargo shorts/surf pants/cropped combats should not be worn by males over age of 11.

That heels can be too high.

And that a smaller jeans size does not mean my legs are shorter. I have lost weight not height.
And just because I want a skinny jean to show off legs I do not want a low slung bottom area to show off my actual arse!!!!

PeppermintPatty · 25/09/2008 16:29

Why can't more shops accept that women are not all exactly the same height?
Men's trousers come in different leg lengths - so why can't womens? It's not that hard!!!

Also more weather appropriate clothing - it's summer but we're in the UK so its still chilly. I want cardigans / long sleeve tops not just skimpy vest tops and mini dresses.

And proper winter coats. That are warm / waterproof and have hoods.

And more (attractive) shoes for people with wide feet. I'm sick of wearing clumpy shoes just because they're the only ones that don't rub!

Swedes · 25/09/2008 16:36

VanillaPumpkin - LOL at "actual arse"

OP posts:
snickersnack · 25/09/2008 16:46

Actual arse and actual stomach and actual muffin tops. I would like trousers that cover all of these, please, rather than squeezing them out for all to see...

And that when shopping for small children, it is crazy to follow the same approach to seasonal shopping as the adult lines - children grow, ffs. It's not unreasonable to want to buy sandals for a small girl in August - to the troll faced misery in Clarks who told me that i should have bought them at the start of the season, I say: how would I know what size she was going to be in three months time?

Horton · 25/09/2008 17:31

Yes, and why can't you buy things like a swimming costume in December without it becoming a huge performance involving trips to a million shops to find something other than a bog standard navy blue number or a decent coat in April? Note to high street: We live in England. This means that we a) have swimming pools available to us and may wish to go there at times other than the height of summer and b) often have bloody awful weather in what is actually the summer.

And I totally agree with the posters who said about leg lengths in smaller/larger sizes. I may be a size 8 but it doesn't mean I'm a midget, too. Equally, it is possible to be a size 18 and not six foot tall, oddly enough.

VanillaPumpkin · 25/09/2008 18:21

I tried on an old pair of my jeans yesterday. They were an ancient charity shop purchase from 'Clockhouse' (remember them at C&A ). Now they sit in EXACTLY the right place on my tummy. They are not high waisted and yet easily avoid actual arse, actual muffin top issues.
Low slung jeans only look good while people are stood up. How much of the day do we really stand up for (unless we are working in a high street shop )....

EyeballsintheSky · 25/09/2008 18:23

I have just spent four days looking for a swimming cossie. Apparantly they sold them all off in the sales . Obviously I am the only person in the UK who goes swimming in September and who was stupid enough to leave her gear at home. Would you like to know where I found that holy Grail of items? BHfarkingS, that's where. My mum shops there ffs!

bikerunski · 25/09/2008 21:57

That unfinished seams just look scruffy - are you listening Johnnie Boden, Per Una and Fat Face? Pay the swaet shop the extra 5p to do proper seams and hems FFS!

LetThemEatCake · 25/09/2008 22:26

That sunglasses are not just for summer, so why clear away the stock the minute September comes?

VanillaPumpkin · 25/09/2008 22:29

And that fading jeans out over the thigh area MAKES THE THIGHS LOOK BIGGER!!! Let the jeans fade themselves. I want a pair that are the same colour all over.....

Gingerbear · 26/09/2008 00:14

So with you cod on fake layering.
Coats and jackets with short sleeves are crap.

Clarks -Whyohwhyohwhy is the kids dept UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS???? All buggies are left in a jumble at the bottom and you have to try and stop newly mobile offspring form hurling themselves downstairs. Am off to instead.

smurfgirl · 26/09/2008 00:20

Yet ditto fat and short. V.annoying.

People have narrow feet as well as wide ones but you only ever see "also available in wide fitting".

themildmannneredjanitor · 26/09/2008 09:15

yes!!!!! because i am a size 9 my feet must be wide! they are not they are skinny and so all the size 9 shoes are too big!

how about;

t -hirts should not come to above your trouser waistline.

they should be longer!!! possibly to your hips-maybe even a litte longer again. otherwise if you reach for anything your belly is flashed. and that is not good. and you spend all day trying to tug down your top.

and enough with the seams under the bust on EVERYTHING. it only works if you have no tits!!!

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 26/09/2008 09:35

Yes, yes, yes to everything on this thread! Especially VanillaP. I am sitting now in a pair of skinny jeans that are great except for the whopping great gap between my top and muffin top - not a great look. Where can I get skinny jeans that go up to my waist? (Mrs Badger - your are needed if you are still around!)

bikerunski · 26/09/2008 11:36

Gap and Primark T shirts are longer than most. Espcially Gap.
