I really love this sweater but can in no way justify the cost - PLEASE come and be rude about it and put me off!

Here it is

I keep drooling over it - not sure why I like it so much, I just do - even DH said "coo, she's - er, I mean that's nice"

But ONE HUNDRED AND TEN SMACKERS!

I recently bought this which looks slightly revolting in this pic, but the sleeves aren't so wide, and I can wear a similar colour long sleeve top under - warm & lovely! It's actually a lot nicer on than I thought it would be, and not anywhere near the price of the first link.

How does anyone wear these wider sleeved jumpers under a coat?

It's horrible!

SixSpotBurnet · 12/09/2008 09:52

Sorry - that was to the OP's one - not the M&S version!

They all look like things that gmtv presenter would wear, Kate Garroway is she called?
if I wore the first one it would be stained after a week.
It doesn't even look comfortable and not at a 100 quid!

purpleduck · 12/09/2008 09:59

Go to Zara
They have tons of nice knitwear to DIE for

I would worry that the cashmere one would end up at the bottom of the wash basket and never get used

Carnival · 12/09/2008 09:59

Effie, I really liked that jumper and I feel you may have done my bank account some damage by luring me to that site - you are an evil genius

florenceuk · 12/09/2008 10:15

Funny, I love that Whistles coat but (a) I'm too short and (b) its £110

If we're into knitting this is very very popular among knitters and the pattern is free: february lady sweater

And so is this: drops sweater. Pattern here: drops

I have a vague feeling Sirdar have something similar as well if you're keen on this route...

Sirdar: pattern 9066

At least then you can pick a colour you like and make the sleeves as long as you like!

bellavita · 12/09/2008 10:28

For that price - I would expect it to have a leeeetle bit more cashmere in it!

florenceuk · 12/09/2008 10:31

Lots here too: sirdar patterns

CurrantBun · 12/09/2008 10:32

I have an 18-month old and I have a few cashmere sweaters (M&S Autograph). He's an exceptionally clean child though so think I must just be lucky!

Must say I love the White Company - I have several of their 3/4 sleev scoop-necked t-shirts and the quality and fit are great. I'm not overly keen on the cardigan in the OP though - just don't think it's a very flattering cut and the neckline would really annoy me.

Wide-sleeved, chunky-knit cardies are lovely and cosy and I did buy a couple last year, but found I didn't wear them that much as it wasn't often warm enough to wear them outside without a coat, and a coat on top was just too hot/bulky (and my coat was shorter than the cardie so looked dreadful anyway).

Gobbledigook · 12/09/2008 10:33

It's frumpy (the OP one)

BecauseImWorthIt · 12/09/2008 10:48

Number one is horrible. Something my granny might wear, whilst leaning back on one of those doily things they put on the backs of armchairs.

Number 2 is OK, but that colour can be very hard to wear - can wash you out very easily.

Like the WC one, but {shock] at the price.

And it will show off a muffin top to great effect.

twentypence · 12/09/2008 10:56

I bought a lovely merino wool long cardigan today (knee length and I'm tall) from a charity shop for $15 (about a fiver).

It looks brand new. No way is that first one worth 22 of my lovely merino.

mrsruffallo · 12/09/2008 10:59

It's quite bland for the money. I don't like the sleeves, the neck or the colour

mabanana · 12/09/2008 11:01

THe black M&S one is nicest, I think. And less fattening.

you will spill spaghetti sauce/wine down it and it will be ruined, dont put yourself in that position.

It is ugly. You will look like a frump

Good enough?
