I wouldn't think twice about another mum wearing this sort of thing

I would think she was fun and cheery

Mums at my school wear ALL SORTS

thesockmonsterofdoom · 02/09/2008 20:57

and you are never to old to be a goth.

I'd wear it but if it was plain black and I'd have to have plain, almost boring boots, no stilleto heels and also a plain jumper.
Basically the only thing that could be considered tarty would be the skirt not the rest of the outfit if that makes sense.
I'm also 5'2 so not much leg on show!

morningpaper · 02/09/2008 20:57

remember Cod likes old ladies shoes

makeminealargeoneplease · 02/09/2008 20:58

For the school run? I'd wear your jeans for the school run and save that for a hot date night!

Lizzylou · 02/09/2008 20:59

Agree with mugglewump, I have a plain red skirt v similar which I hope to get back into this season.
I did scare FIL on Christmas Day whilst playing with Playmobil though.

Gobbledigook · 02/09/2008 21:01

Yikes - that is horrible.

I have worn a short khaki combat type skirt on school run with thick tights and boots but your one is shorter and the tartan, flarey nature of it screams teenager.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 02/09/2008 21:03

I don't have any jeans (see my other thread in this topic).
I have putit in my shopping basket along with these jeans www.katesclothing.co.uk/Criminal-Damage-Black-Skull-Print-Skinny-Jeans-p/cdblackskullskinny.htm and this top www.katesclothing.co.uk/Scary-Miss-Mary-In-Charge-T-shirt-p/uka0004.htm, but I haven't pressed buy yet.

God above.

Well, it's not my style but if it's yours then fair dos!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 02/09/2008 21:09

Wouldn't have liked it if my mom turned up at school wearing that! Maybe not horrible on it's own (not my taste, but doesn't say anything, people differ and all that), but definitely not the right occasion for it.

You'd certainly be memorable.

If you like it and feel confident in it then buy it.

Think you could get nicer skinny jeans in new look - not keen on the stitching on the ones in your link.

MrsMattie · 02/09/2008 21:14

You're not the only one!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 02/09/2008 21:17

new look really? never been in but will give it a go, would they be expensive though (relativley obviously).
every shop I have ever seen jeans in they have been £££££££££££

OP posts:
lou33 · 02/09/2008 21:39

am not keen on the skirt because its red tartan, nothing to do with the length

if you suit mini skirt wear a mini skirt

morningpaper · 02/09/2008 21:41

I did scare FIL on Christmas Day whilst playing with Playmobil though.

lolol

lou33 · 02/09/2008 21:42

new look jeans are about 25 quid i think

traceybath · 02/09/2008 21:46

£20 in new look

JoolsToo · 02/09/2008 21:52

are tartan belts in this season?

Heated · 02/09/2008 21:53

There are lots of gorgeous short skirts this season if you've got the legs for it or even if you haven't.

BUT NOT IN TARTAN!!!!

makeminealargeoneplease · 02/09/2008 22:21

I love this place gorgeous clothes for not alot of £££. There's always a sale on. Have a look and tell me you aren't impressed. (Please though SockMonster, a word about the tartan, just no, don't, never tartan)

thesockmonsterofdoom · 03/09/2008 07:43

Make mine, can I say not oly I am very very impressed, but we have one round the corner that i have very rarely been in, and I have an hour to mslef on Friday.
new wardrobe by the weekend then .

OP posts:
makeminealargeoneplease · 03/09/2008 08:50

ooooh you'll have a great time!! We have one around the corner from us too and I must admit, I hardly have any other clothes in my wardrobe! Its great because not alot of people know about this store and so people don't recognise it. And as Gok Wan would say they are "bang on trend"! Have a look at the kids stuff, gorgeous too.

ps: looks like I'm wrong about the tartan, looks like its a look thats in this season!
