I bought a little bra for 8 year-old dd

And she loves it! She begged me to buy it and she has worn it non-stop for 2 days! She even wanted to sleep in it!

Of course she is nowhere near being able to fill it, but it is just a little trainy type one from Gap.

At first I thought it was really sweet, but now it makes me feel a bit sad. She is going to need a real one soon enough...and then she will have to wear the damn thing for the rest of her life!

joliejolie, I think part of the problem is that it is in 'Style & Beauty' and that it's called a bra. Style, beauty, bras and 8 year old girls don't all go together in many people's view, including mine to be honest but I don't have an 8 year old girl yet so shall reserve judgement. I just hope my dd is not as body conscious as to need to cover her chest up at that age but who knows?

I think your mistake, jolie was typing "bra" adn "8 year old" in the same sentece.

This is MN y'know!

I'd just like to say to all of you who won't buy your DD a bra untill she can fill one, please don't make her suffer the embarassment of bing the last girl in her year to have a bra if she is a late developer. I will never forgive my mother for being so useless!

And I am a bit when mothers say they won't put their daughters in bikinis. My DD has been wearing Monsoon bikinis since she was 2. So much easier going to the loo than with a swimming costume! If a man mentioned not thinking it appropiate to dress a tiny girl in a bikini, I would be .

joliejolie · 02/09/2008 20:21

And if a woman mentioned it, it would be even more mind boggling, right?

This was seriously meant innocently. I have not been on MN long enough to know the triggers!
