Eight Hour Cream - what the feck?!!

LaVieEnRose · 30/08/2008 19:03

Bought it today on an impulse because I've heard so many times how good it is.

Good for what? It's very sticky! I thought it was some miracle cream that you slathered on at night and you woke up looking like Keira Knightley!

Apparently it's just to put on chapped lips?

Pah!

Felt like this over 8 hour cream - smells like Andrews Liver Salts.

See also Guerlain Midnight Secret. Yeah - the big secret is that it doesn't work.

Eve Lom good though.

orangina · 04/09/2008 14:17

Ooh, LOVE Guerlain Midnight Secret... was given large pot by beauty editor friend, can't bring myself to spend the £70 or whatever to replace it, but I did love it so...

Creme de la Mer is great - takes years off! Only problem is huge cost. I've been trying to wean myself off of it, for something more reasonable. Only nothing seems to match up, so I have tens of jars of wholly unsuitable, marginally less expensive creams sitting around. (I have hugely sensitive skin!) Luckily, OH is often happy to be guinea pig and uses my "old" creams - he lurves the Boots one (which, I must add, is not particularly cheap!).

BBBee · 04/09/2008 16:28

i like 8hr creqam - originally bought for dd molloscum (went on their own anyway)

I use facial scrub and then put it on face and sit infront of telly massaging it in for about an hour.

Notice a difference for the next few days.

I tried that boots 'protect and serve'or whatever its called - the miracle one? I found it really drying. SOooooooo not what I need.

I used to work for E Arden so bought a stack dirt cheap - OH uses it on his hands when he's building as it really does help seriously chapped / grazed / dried hands. I don't use it at all except sometimes as a 'magic cream' placebo effect for DDs. We always said that if you launched it now it would fail because of the stink, but as it's a really old proven recipe it just flies off the shelves. Still, I think there are better, cheaper alternatives out there for non-builders

LaVieEnRose · 04/09/2008 20:18

So because I wasted £20 on the 8 hour cream I then decided to waste spend £21.50 on EyeCon by Benefit because I have hideous dark circles.

Obviously I am in denial about money (don't have any). However, it was recommended on mumsnet and by GokWan so it must work!

love lansinoh.

and i absolutely love touche eclat! can't believe ppl dont like it. it completely changes my face when i wear it, but i must admit it works best under artificial light. i think it's worth every penney.

not impressed with 8hour cream though.

girlsallaround · 04/09/2008 20:46

what 8 hour cream is great for is healing cuts, small scratches and the like. it makes them disappear! otherwise, an expensive lip balm

Gingerbear · 04/09/2008 21:10

I LIKE the smell of 8 hr cream

It is fab for psoriasis, dry elbows and feet.
I have used it as bum cream for DS too.

jamescagney · 04/09/2008 21:15

Thank God.I bought the 8 hour cream ages ago from "The perfume Shop" and thought I'd bought a duff one. It smelled like old pencil shavings, and was 'orrible. Vaseline is brilliant, I like the Aloe Vera flavour one and Carmex is excellent too (but dearer than old Vaseline...

saramoon · 04/09/2008 21:25

Touche elcat is my saviour! I love it! Can't live without it.

ruthosaurus · 05/09/2008 12:48

I've just started using organic at heart stretch mark cream and it's lovely. I've ended up using it as a moisturiser on my face as well. Plus it's cheaper than bio oil.

lilymama · 05/09/2008 15:37

I've got touché éclat but never worked out how to apply it properly- can anyone help! Night out tonight with 2 other mums and as still have a stone to lose ( dd now 15 mths) face needs to look good!

LaVieEnRose · 07/09/2008 19:44

I was shown by a make up lady in John Lewis. You need to pump some out onto the side of your hand then apply it with your ring finger and blend.

It's AWFUL, AWFUL stuff, like putting vaseline all over your face. She produced it for her horse grooms hands apparently. Can you imagine putting it on your hands and then stroking a horse... their hairs stuck all over your hands! My husband hated the smell too.

Ellie72 · 09/09/2008 19:17

its 'orrible its like vaseline with menthol! if you want gorgeous stuff try kate logan beauty their calm facial oil is DIVINE!!!

shhhh · 09/09/2008 20:46
