Bra sizing

used2bthin · 12/08/2008 13:13

I was chatting to a mum from toddler group yesterday and somehow we got round to bra sizes (think we were moaning about post DC bodies!). I told her I'm a 36b and she was adament that I should go to Bravisimo because there is no way that I am. Before having DD I always wore 34c but have worn 36b since stopping breast feeding because I feel I have very little cup wise but am fatter. Would they laugh if I took my very unimpressive chest to Bravisimo? Are there any other places that are good for measuring? We only have debenhams and m and s here and in both I have had very uninterested staff say that my 36bs are ok.

used2bthin I don't think my boobs are particularly large tbh. In fact I had room to spare in the 34d I was wearing, and 34c wasn't particularly small on me.

But I promise you, when the angel from Bravissimo put me in a 32dd, it is definitely the right size. Just be aware that if you have been wearing the wrong back size for a long time, the correct size will feel very very snug, until you get used to it.

My boobs don't look huge, but I wear a 34FF, so I bet there is little chance you are an a cup, so don't worry.

There is a pic of me here on my facebook page and you can see my boobs don't look massive even in a FF cup. www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1097595813 Hope that works.

onepieceoflollipop · 12/08/2008 14:02

I also think that all of these "larger" cup sizes take us a while to get used to. Not so long ago dd was the largest size routinely available, so I guess many women just had to make do and buy much bigger back sizes.

I still hear women of my mum's generation (and she is only late 50s) say things like "oh, my dd has a large bust, she is a c cup"

used2bthin · 12/08/2008 14:02

Thanks everyone I am a bit too excited about this I can't wait to go there now. I've worn badly fitting bras for ages now, haven't had one thats really flattering since dd was born so will be so happy if bravissimo can sort me out especially if it menas I can order that swimsuit I liked. GSM the pic was very small but could see that you definately don't look big so there is hope that I won't be an A cup. I want to go back into town now! I think it will have to be tomorrow or thurs though as don't think dd would stand for it.

I added some pics to my profile page so you can see my small but FF sized norkage a bit clearer. Be quick though, coz I am removing them soon lol.

used2bthin · 12/08/2008 14:11

Sorry was off browsing bravissimo! Wish I could go now but she is asleep anyway! She is 22m o and very hard to take to the shops but my mum is off tomorrow so I think I'll speak nicely to her! Lol at name change, I DID used to be very thin though! it perfectly summed up how I was feeling when I joined mumsnet properly, I kept telling everyone I met that I used to be size ten, I was so self conscious about being the biggest I'd ever been. Have lost lots of weight since then but still can't get into my old clothes. Actually, I'm not even sure that I want to anymore though..

Ring Bravissimo in the morning before you go, sometimes they give you an appt as it is a really popular shop.

bleedin' hell. I have this problem every time I try and upload pics. Oh well, you'll just have to imagine lol

used2bthin · 12/08/2008 14:17

at name change suggestions, I love mumsnet! Good plan to ring them first especially after the problems they were having today. I'll tell you whatMMJ, if you are right about your guess (30dd was it?) I will name change to that!

missblythe · 12/08/2008 14:17

You can't be a 36!

I'm a 10/12 dress size, and norks are a 30FF.

Keep us posted, I love a good bra size thread!

PortAndLemon · 12/08/2008 14:19

goingslowlymad, did you set the visibility on your photo to "Visible to any Mumsnetter" and then save?

used2bthin · 12/08/2008 14:19

GSM thanks for trying. I hope you are all right because I'm already picking out what I want on B's website! It is quite pricey but it is my birthday coming up. Actually I'm thinking my mum and DD should come with me tomorrow

goingslowlymad · 12/08/2008 14:21

thanks hana. The babies are gorgeous aren't they? I am so pround of how well they have come since being born so early.

used2bthin · 12/08/2008 14:26

Ah yes it works now GSM, lovely pics, are they your babies? Gorgeous anyway! I am so excited I think I shouldn't have had that coffee in town. I am very sure I am weaing the wrong size now. And actually their bras aren't THAT expensive as bras go. It was the swimwear I was looking at.

OP posts:
goingslowlymad · 12/08/2008 14:30

I get all my bras from Bravissimo and pay around £25 each for them. Well worth the money though. I would much rather wear a well fitting bra than a well fitting pair of jeans for example.

The babies aren't mine, although I gave birth to them. I had them for a friend who couldn't carry a pregnancy herself.
