Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Chutney, those sound like good odds to me and you're not really old at 38. Seem to think with dd at 36/37 I was 1 in 2500 or something after nuchal fold. I hope all these tales are reassuring.

Sobernow, good about the fleas but boo hiss at washing machine and launderettes and no hot water, that must be HORRIBLE.

Unreb, HURRAH at your getting a weekend away with dh, your children will be FINE and how lovely. Now, where will you go, do you need any help looking, what's your budget, what do you want most etc etc? Do let me help you find somewhere!(If you want, you may already know of somewhere!)

DofN, sorry to hear of shouting session. I am in awe of anyone with more than 2 children tbh.

Last night I had 2 glasses of wine but that was it

Today
3 sausages
some salami and cheese
and eating a tuna salad at my desk

have a streaming cold but wonderful Benelyn day and night tablets have stopped my nose running and means I am at work. And HURRAH, lovely boss has agreed I can work at home tomorrow instead of going on hideous away day where I would have been forced to take part in gruesome team activities.

DofN, yes, snap on Slough. IIRC David Brent reads that poem out i The Office and says "over rated". Very funny!

I havr now got my teeth into tedious project and it's not that bad really and quite easy.

Sobernow - at no hot water. Grim.

Ds2 got his AS results today - ABCD. He's pretty pleased but a bit disgruntled at the D. He's gone to V-festival now and won't be back 'til Monday tea-time.

There is no booze left in the house now so I'm teatotal 'til a week on Saturday!

Cammelia · 14/08/2008 16:58

Chutney, congrats on your pregnancy, I was 39 when I became pg with dd2 and 40 by the time I gave birth. At my first antenatal appt they were automatically booking me in for an amnio (based on age related risk they said). I declined to make the booking as I had already decided to have no invasive tests.
Like Saggar said I think it comes down to what would you do knowing the results?

I am trying to eat less this week as my parents are coming to stay next week and I always over cater (its a family trait).

Happiness quotient off the scale as finally have The Letter confirming that dd has a place in the scholarship class for her two final years at prep. She will be taking 2 scholarships, one academic and one art

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 14/08/2008 21:09

Congratulations to cammelias dd. Are you celebrating properly ie. not bootcamping?!

Well done saggars DS, hope he enjoys the V. It's a grown-up world away from where my DCs are!

sobernow - how long until normal life resumes? What are you doing for hot showers - can you go to local swimming pool/gym/etc and use theirs?

I have had a massively productive day. Had my first nearly-7yo post-natal group over this morning, we now have 17 children between us! Cleaners arrived as they were leaving swiftly followed by Ocado . I've booked a 7-seater car for last week of holidays when DH will be travelling about with us, sorted out DD2s dance classes, DD1 & DS1s swimming & tennis lessons. And I took DD2 for her MMR booster - 3 injections . She was brilliant and didn't cry until the last one. And I've been to the feed merchants and done a heap of washing. Go me!

I've had toast & marmite, cream cheese & cucumber sandwich, peach, raw carrots, grilled sardines, new potatoes & peas & sweetcorn. Lots of water but way too much coffee. Good levels of moisturising, body scrub & self-tan this morning, will do feet again tonight.

DH (who finally came home this morning) is going to give me a back massage now whilst I watch the Olympics.

And it's Friday tomorrow!

WideWebWitch · 14/08/2008 22:18

Dofn, v impressed at good outsourcing and organisation skills!

Cam, congrats to your dd!

Saggars, great results

Tonight
fillet steak with garlic butter
spinach salad
cava

which is a £10 bottle for £5 at Tesco! May have to go back and get more tomorrow.

Duchess, you just remind me how lazy I am.

Camm, fab news.

Sobernow, much simpathy (we had to have a new boiler last year).

Well done MasterSaggar. Hope he enjoys V. Could always arrange a spy . What's he going to do next Saggars?

Hope you're feeling better www.

Ok, this is the brief: North: quite possibly the Lakes (different part to where the boys are); Carlisle/Scottish Borders maybe. Yorkshire at a push, but would prefer North-West. Budget, erm, depends what's on offer I guess, given that it's Bank Holiday week. When we've had the opportunity before we've used Late Rooms. We're going either Sunday/Monday to Wed/Thursday. And we want somewhere grown-up, but not too posh.

WideWebWitch · 14/08/2008 22:27

ureb, I am 'working' form home tomorrow so leave it with me...

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 15/08/2008 11:44

Hipping Hall looks nice and it has Great reviews on Tripadvisor

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 15/08/2008 11:46

Have just searched mn on just 'samling' and there are some rave reviews. Go there I reckon, if you can get a room.

Duchess I am of your energy, are you very, very young ?

In which case double

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 15/08/2008 18:15

Oh yes, I am very, very young.

39 is young, right?!

Cammelia · 15/08/2008 21:08

Yes young enough for me to be

unknownrebelbang · 15/08/2008 21:19

Oh yes, 39 is vv young, vv young indeed!

Alas, Saggar, the offer of the spy is no longer available - DH no longer working at V this weekend. (Not that I'm bothered, lol, means he's around - and awake - for DS1's birthday on Sunday).

Wow, www, those places are lovely! I had a quick peek this morning (surrepticiously leaving one or two pages open...). And I have just spent a glorious hour browsing, although am that DH has actually booked somewhere whilst I've been at work!

So, we're going from cheapskate travelodge base in outer London to three glorious dayshere.

Got loads to do this weekend, but hey, no work for a whole fortnight!!! plus it's Rebel 1's birthday on Sunday when he'll be 14.

Happy weekend everyone.

unknownrebelbang · 15/08/2008 21:22

Oh, the Samling was unavailable for the days we wanted...not convinced I could have talked DH into it, but it looked fab!

WideWebWitch · 16/08/2008 07:41

Three whole days, how lovely ureb, enjoy! I'd kill my dh if he did that but only because hotels are my thing as opposed to his thing!

39 is indeed young, I agree!

Yesterday
bacon and eggs
salami and cheese for lunch
1 cold sausage
beefburgers with blue cheese
cava

and feel rubbish as cold has come on with a venegeance.

Have had quite a few phone calls re jobs plus some agents telling me it's VERY quiet atm so I need to wait til Sept. Didn't get the Slough job, not even an interview BUT ex dh knows someone who already works there and it was a vipers nest apparently so I think it's for the best, esp as location isn't ideal. Dofn, you were right about the boring project, I've started it now and it's a nice easy job for 8 weeks although boss is saying it will go on longer. Hmm, not sure of that myself but I am feeling more optimistic about getting work.

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend. where are batters and marina?

OP posts:
Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 16/08/2008 09:55

Norks - you make me feel tired just reading what you get up to.

www - take it easy at work for a bit - you deserve it.

ureb - the weekend away sounds fab. We're off up to Lancaster for a night next week - not without kids sadly - ds2 is going to the uni open day so we decided to stay over and have a day in the Lakes. He's got to do another year at college then is looking at uni for either English and Media or Journalism BTW did you get SAT results for ds1? We haven't had dd's/

ds2 is enjoying V - even though it doesn't start proper until 12 today. dh dropped them on Thursday as they have early access tickets and blagged his way to the campsite on his works ID, to help carry the beerkit. He could have stayed for the weekend!

Respect to that woman Sobernow and how lovely to be clean again!

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 17/08/2008 00:07

lol, www, well in fairness, I did tell him he'd GOT to arrange this blardy break (although I meant the childcare, but I still ended up sorting that, lol, even if it was a fluke). After two near-misses, can't quite believe it's happening!

He does tend to arrange the holidays though, and he's usually on the ball. (I tell him what I want to do, and see what he comes up with.) He'd looked at the Moss Grove place amongst others, and he quite liked that too.

Glad you're all in order again Sobernow and WOW at that woman!

No SATS results for DS1 Saggars. It's a farce, isn't it?

WideWebWitch · 17/08/2008 08:54

Fair enough ureb!

had pesto and mozzarella burger in restaurant and some lettuce and lots of wine
and smashed honeycomb cheesecake oops
but was in bed by half ten

OP posts:
Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 17/08/2008 18:55

It blimmin is ureb.

Have run 5k today and then had a nice day out walking around Bakewell/Hartington. Looking forward to ds2's return tomorrow
