I’m five feet 8 size 16 and want tights to wear with dresses and boots in the winter . However I can never get them long enough or they cut me in half round the waist . Any ideas of better ones i could buy !

Snag.

LifeBeginsToday · 03/11/2026 22:19

Snag. I'm the same height and size and wear size D.

ZZGirl · 03/11/2026 22:20

Snag

Apprenante · 03/11/2026 22:20

Snag. Lots of sizes and very hard wearing.

Swissmeringue · 03/11/2026 22:42

Heist are a bit spenny, but an absolute game changer. Snag are decent and a hell of a lot cheaper.

cloudjumper · 03/11/2026 22:55

Snag tights.

Whatthefeckk · 03/11/2026 23:37

Another vote for Snag

Actually Primark aren't bad at all.

I find hold-ups are far better.

Snag. I'm the same height and size and wear size D.

Can I just ask about the sizing? Cos I’m 5’6-7 and size 12 but the size chart also tells me size D - is that right? Should I size down to C?

I don't like snag. I want the waist wide, not tall and I find it still a bit tight, but bizarrely reaching practically up to my armpits.

Doctordoolittle · Yesterday 12:46

I love M&S and would advise to size up if on the borderline between size. I used to really
like the thermacool ones but last year they were harder to find. I haven’t checked this year as I’m pregnant and having to wear maternity tights 😂

Snag

BindweedIsMyNemesis · Yesterday 13:37

I like the bamboo tights sold at Boots. They are the only tights that feel as though they breathe as well as keep me warm - and I don't end up with a sweaty gusset!

SatinHeart · Yesterday 13:39

Snag are definitely my favourite

Snag, over 60 pairs and they are amazing

Yes I agree. I am a firm "no" to Snag which is a shame as some of their colours are nice.

I am size 14, 5ft 6, very curvy – should tick all the size D boxes but they were way too big in every way. @floralania I suggest size C if you must.

I swapped some for size C and at least the legs were not ludicrously long but the waistband still came up to my boobs – and I am long bodied. Also several pairs went badly at the toes. I won't be buying them again (they are really ££ as well).

I wish someone would make tights for actual body shapes – I always end up wearing the same size as someone slim and tall (ie size L/Snag D) and funnily enough, if they are wide enough they are too long.

Wish someone would make tights for long-legged slim people. long legged-bigger people and short-legged bigger people, instead of making all those people wear the same size.

That's a shame I've got loads of snags, some are 7 years old! Yes they do come up to your boobs, but actually, they don't roll down and are super comfy

Snag are awful quality. M&S version are better.

Snag. All I will wear, last for ages and actually fit. If you use my link you get a discount.

Another vote for Snag. I must have at least 60 pairs in different colours and deniers.

EleanorMc67 · Yesterday 19:20

Wolford & Falke. Very expensive compared to those mentioned above (unless you get lucky in TK Maxx or in a sale). However, my mother buys my sister & I one new pair each every Christmas - & I have pairs going back between 10 & 15 years (if not longer) that still look new. So they actually work out cheaper in the long run, IMO. They are extremely comfy, & near-indestructible (except when you get a new kitten ... 😸!!).

I recommend snag tights. They are more expensive but you can wash them and dry them on an airer. I have pairs I’ve owned for years.

MabelAnderson · Yesterday 21:04

I was totally unimpressed by Snag, and I hate their over sexualised website.
I far prefer Heist, or Hedoine, or Wolford with the comfort waistband. I am the same height as you OP, but a smaller size. I don’t like tights where the elastic waist is tight but everything else not tight, and even more so when that elastic is at bra level. Both Heist and Hedoine have a very wide waistband with no narrow elastic strip at the top, they fit well and are smooth under clothing. They are all long lasting but higher denier Wolford last ages. Even when skint I used to buy them in the sale as it worked out cheaper than buying multiple pairs of inexpensive tights.
M&S also did some wide waistband tights, not as wide or as good as Heist but a lot cheaper and comfortable to wear, I am sure if they still do them though.

Another vote for snag here. I just a pair rip after 3 years so pretty good going.
£10 a pair but they last ages and are comfy
