Which dress for Christmas?

I’m 30 if that makes any difference. I know lots of posters are older. (Not that it should matter, we can all wear whatever we like).

I've just looked at Oh Polly dresses on Vinted where they are modelled on real women. They look fine, but nothing like the website. The person who has retouched those boobs has never encountered a real one in their lives.

It’s not her hips though, it’s down at the top of her thighs. And her waist is narrower than her hair 🤨

Some women do naturally have a very small waist and relatively wider hips. I agree that the photo is edited though everything online is.

Retouched boobs, like retouched anything, never looks quite real. They look real to the men who live exclusively online lives though 🤣

Are these Oh Polly dresses? Have you tried Club L?

Yes and I’ve had a few pieces from Club L before but think I prefer Oh Polly.

@ISpeakJive Thank you, and yes the model does have small boobage (seen her in lots of other photos, she’s an Instagram model), but for some reason Oh Polly always like to shop in cleavage for every single model 🙄 I wish they didn’t. They should just let small breasted ladies be as they are 🙃

Yes, I was just thinking that it would be very surprising if that model had boobs like that in real life unless they were implants.

Some Mumsnetters are very sniffy about anything figure-hugging/bodycon.

OP, they're both great. I think the burgundy one is more unusual and I think the colour is gorgeous, but probably less versatile as the trim makes it very winter-specific I think. The red one you would acually be able to wear to a summer party as well as Christmas events. I think the sweetheart neckline is nicer too. The burgundy is more unusual and Christmassy, I think, while the red one is more classic and adaptable in terms of where and when you could wear it.

Is this Christmas party or christmas dinner. I need more comfort for dinner personally

cubedcube · Today 18:01

I like the burgundy with the trim more

We kind of need to know the event. Obviously, neither would work for “eating my body weight in pigs in blankets and roast potatoes”. Both would be good for Christmas parties where all the guests are rather glamorous. Both are a bit too “and here are my tits” for a work Christmas do.

the fur bottomed one is my favourite- however if you get it wet, that fur will look ratty, so do you also have a long enough coat to cover that for the arrival to any event wearing it? (It will rain not snow in December, we always think we’ll get snow , but this is Britain, you need to assume rain.)

This made me laugh. I once went to my work party wearing a leather corset (over a long skirt) - this was a very glam event full of celebs wearing even less. I remember thinking "hmm this is very much a bit TOO here are my tits" and sewing a furry bit round the chest area. Sort of the reverse of the burgundy dress.

I'm too old and too fat for those shenanigans now. Sadly

"And here are my tits" I'm crying

They're both gorgeous OP. I love the fur trim one, it's different but still looks elegant, it's beautiful.

Parties and bars. Why the shock? I like to dress up 😂

I really like the red dress , it looks a lot dressier than the burgundy which is more like a tee shirt dress if you take the fluff off the bottom but I’m a sucker for a red dress at Christmas 😁

It’s Oh Polly, it’s a massive global brand. The photos are edited but not fully AI I don’t think.

If anyone really did have a figure like that, they would look amazing in anything. You are 30, pick either and I am sure you will look fabulous.
Have a great time.

I find bodycon dresses comfy as they made from soft, stretchy fabric. I’m going to a fancy (but small portions) meal and then bars on NYE, so I won’t be eating a huge feast in it 😂

Have you had your colours done op? One may suit you much more than the other !

I’ve always found Oh Polly to be really good quality, so not dodgy at all. They are guilty or serious photo shopping crimes though.

No, I haven’t… are you talking about the season colour analysis? I was a bit dubious about that…. I have warm/yellow toned but light skin, but greenish blue eyes. Naturally mid brunette but dye my hair honey blonde, similar to the shade this model has.

Agreed! But to be honest every influencer and most clothing brands photoshop everything…sadly.

I like the burgundy better than the red. Red is weird, can be too tomato. I’m very envious you can wear the design, I’d love to for a party.

Aluna · Today 19:02

The burgundy is much better. The red lace is just tackyville.
