We’re going to an organised night at a very swanky club in the US

bearing in mind I haven’t been into a club in about 25 years, I’m 51, slim, tall, have cowboy boots, won’t wear heels

what the hell am I going to wear

(temp will be about 20 degrees)

I tend to dress for comfort: clean trainers, loose trousers, and a sparkly top. If it’s cooler, I wear a dress. I’m in my late 50s, and I just love dancing—I’m not there to look cool. It looks quite relaxed.

Yes i think this is important. Im 55 and have started going clubbing a fair bit again in recent years after reconnecting with old raver friends. I have no interest in competing with what 20 somethings are wearing so wouldn't be taking too much notice of the club photos only to gauge general dress code. Im very confident in my own personal style now and I want to look good but definitely comfort is at the front of my mind when I know im going to be dancing all night. Sequins definitely wouldn't be my first choice for a club either. I do love that ASOS shift though and think will buy that for an upcoming holiday

I can’t wear heels which is why I’m going for next best thing which would be boots

i agree the cowboy boots don’t fit with anything currently in the shops

Club + comfort + dress code can be an interesting challenge, especially if like the code posted above you’re specifically told not to wear athleisure or fancy loungewear. That wipes out trainers and posh trackies with a nice top right there.

I’d probably go with a kitten heel of some sort, and a shoe that’s in no danger of slipping/rubbing when you’re dancing. And as you’re confident with your legs, a mini dress would be perfect!
