Dithering about this dress. Would you buy and if so how/where would you wear it?

Boden Pussy Bow dresss I really love this and I have a £25 voucher which would take the price down to £64 buy I gave nothing big upcoming that would justify the purchase. On the other hand having lost 5 stone recently and sold most of my wardrobe on Vinted I don't have a lot of smart options left as I've focused on replacing my everyday clothes. So would it be versatile enough to style for daytime use and if so how. I am 5 ft 5 size 12 and can't do heels.

Pussybow Jersey Maxi Dress-Deep Wisteria

We’ve used soft jersey and gentle gathers to create this dress so it drapes beautifully. It’s finished off with a ruched waistband and a pussybow you can style open or tied up. Plus, the maxi length means you can get out your favourite heels.

Yes its lovely! Wear with boots. You could wear it to a dinner party easily. And have a wooly cardigan if you want to dress it down. I love a long dress.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · Yesterday 13:46

It's nice...I'd buy it

You could wear this anywhere....Work, weekend... to a party...

Tocsin · Yesterday 13:48

No, it would really need to be a crisper, or crunchier fabric to be a convincing day dress. If I were determined I might have the hem taken up to just above the ankles, so th foot if my boot would be visible enough to be part of the outfit.

I wouldn’t be keen on the polyester - but it isn’t a huge price and I’m sure you’d find a few opportunities to wear it over the Christmas season. Invent some!

Who the hell would wear that to work? Confused

Oakdodger · Yesterday 13:49

Wear it to Church/Mosque?

Pattygonia · Yesterday 13:50

I have a similar Baukjen dress and I love it - tho tbh I don’t wear it very often. I have dressed it down with a crew neck slouchy camel coloured sweater and boots - but in terms of “dressiness” that makes it more casual lunch in pub rather than running errands in Lidl - and sadly my life has more Lidl than pub lunches about it…

But I’m still glad I have it - mine isn’t quite as long as this one though and I’m tall - but I’d say go for it!

SillyG · Yesterday 13:51

No! Its not even flattering on the model.
Grumpy and shapeless

CortieTat · Yesterday 13:52

This would be a nice dress I would definitely wear if it wasn’t made of cheap, jersey polyester. It probably cost about 10 pounds to make.

whatwouldlilacerullodo · Yesterday 13:52

It's beautiful, but only for tall people. It wouldn't work for me, but if you think it does for you, buy it! (96% polyester though)

leperol · Yesterday 13:54

No, first instincts are that it reminds me of Little House on the Prairie, or the uniform of a religious cult.

Sorry OP, but you did ask.

cartagenagina · Yesterday 13:54

I love it! I would wear it anywhere. Definitely to work.

Charlenedickens · Yesterday 13:55

It will need taking up, the model is five foot nine, and it’s to her ankles,

I think it’s lovely and you can wear with trainers to go to lunch or cinema and it’s good to have something in your wardrobe that can be smart, but I’d check the length as it is a maxi dress not midi

Yupstillhere · Yesterday 13:55

I wouldn't wear that to work, I personally think it's a bit meh. The polyester would put me off, I would watch out for it on vinted and get it cheaper, I wouldn't pay that price for polyester.

You'd wear this with trainers? That doesn't go to my way of thinking, maybe I'm out of touch.

BillieWiper · Yesterday 13:57

It's alright. A ballet flat, pirate boot might be good?

I wear long skirts and dresses to work…
Why wouldn’t you?

Puhpuhpuhpuh · Yesterday 13:58

I think it’s quite nice in styling, but I’m not keen on polyester or the ruching, so I wouldn’t consider it. Completely fine for work.

canklesmctacotits · Yesterday 14:02

I think you’d need to be quite tall to wear that much fabric tbh. It’s a nice dress, but on the tall and slender model.

I’d wear it to a low key Christmas party I didn’t much care for, Christmas lunch, Sunday lunch in a fancy place etc - if I had the model’s figure. As it is, id look like a nun recently released from the nunnery trying to find her place in the world.

I would with smart white leather trainers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Aluna · Yesterday 14:20

Not very flattering on the model, waist too low and rather frumpy.

AnnaBelIa · Yesterday 14:25

Also worth setting a reminder on ebay or vinted in case anyone lists it second hand. I've managed to get some good discounts that way. Also running it through a cashback website etc can get you a little more off.

That would look so odd.

Whatshitnow · Yesterday 14:30

I couldn't wear it, I'm a curvy size 14 and don't think it would flatter me. The model looks an athletic size 8, small boobs and hips.

Shinyhappyapple · Yesterday 14:30

I like it more than I was expecting to from the description. But I would want to get a few inches chopped off the bottom as I’m not keen on long sleeve maxi dresses.

clarissadavenport · Yesterday 14:31

Obviously, you'd wear that to your prayer circle and all formal cult meetings.
