I saw the leggings with sports socks pulled up and trainers look yesterday for the first time in I can't remember how long. Is it back in or did it just disappear for the summer?

I do it for the gym and I'm late 50's. Too cold for shorts now

Looks awful.

I love this look. Comfortable and accessible for all budgets. It's my go to outfit. Sometimes I change it up a bit with Birke Boston's instead of trainers and now the weather is changing a trench looks great with it

How else are you supposed to wear socks with leggings?

Buttercup211 · 10/10/2026 18:22

I was wondering if it's still fashionable. In my gym class this week a lady wore her socks like that but she was the only person. And I did feel like it was a bit outdated now! Maybe not?

It always reminds me of Max Wall and if you are old enough to know who he is, you shouldn’t be sporting the look.
But I absolutely get why it’s practical. Cold ankles in winter - not fun!

I thought it was bloody stupid until I tried it. With gym leggings it feels much better than having socks tucked inside.

Also my gym is over the road from a dance school which is filled with kids with socks over leggings. If I wore them normally I woild be the odd one out.

I have zero fashion sense, I’m 46 and opt for leggings with thermal socks over them (dark colour) and trainers when at the side of a pitch (DS football) or dog walking. It’s warm and comfy, I’m concerned if I’m now part of a demographic for my socks! When my DD was in year 7 in comp, the style was black tights, white Nike socks and a short skirt! The tights plus socks thing baffled me
