Another Mother of the bride......

My daughter is having her civil ceremony on Easter Sunday in London next year. I've bought this Roksanda Maite dress to wear but I'm not sure about accessories with it being such a dramatic dress.
Will I need a coat? I definitely want a hat but what type? I do favour a large hat!
I'm a size 12/14 depending on the cut/ style. Budget is quite flexible.

Thank you so much to all those who have commented! 😀
I definitely think shoes and clutch the colour of the cape/drape lining is the way to go.
I'm on the fence about the hat size and probably need to go and check out different ones with the dress. There is a hat designer relatively close to me so she may be worth a visit.
I'm quite liking the idea of a cape rather than a coat but where would I find one? I think that's the next challenge......

My go to for warmth is under layers. Wearing a silk or cashmere cami under the dress would make you impervious to cold, and it can be taken off when you get to the indoor venue. Totally depends on the plan for the day, of course.

Sorry for your loss OP.
I love the dress - it's v classy. I wore something similar to DDs wedding - it worked much better with a pill box than a large hat. Rainbow shoes do great comfortable satin shoes and bags that can be custom dyed by them ( to match the lining?) - i got lovely sling backs which were very comfortable - had them dyed in the same shade as the dress

@Comeonbabyblue I'm not too far from Liverpool and many years ago there was a Felicity Hat hire near to me and I used them for a family christening; I attend that child's wedding earlier this year!!
The more I think about it, the more I'm attracted to a pill box hat; as a pp said very Jackie O!

Please share a photo when you pull your whole outfit together!

@MissFritton65 Years ago they sold in Fenwicks, London. My DD is wearing a silk pill box to her own “formal”
wedding. They are definitely popular now.

@GarlicEverything you are being very helpful - thank you!
I'd like a large, wide brim hat.
I'm fine with heels; we will be either on pavements or inside!

Are you sire about that type of a hat with that dress?

The shoulder and cape are very dynamic - and beautiful on you. I wonder how a trilby would look? One that plays with the texture and colour of the dress.

I also think a thicker heel than one you are wearing in the photo. A flamenco style shoe...

@MissFritton65 please don’t do a trilby with a £1000 dress! Promise me you won’t. Nor a dance shoe from Spain. It’s not cos play is it?!!! Just a decent hat - you can get the sash colour matched at Hostie. Definitely a heel and you could try a mid heel if there’s standing around. A classic heeled pump is the obvious. Shame LK Bennett has bitten the dust. What about the higher end shoes of Jimmy Choo etc? There’s wonderful sling backs around which are great for spring.

MissFritton65 · Yesterday 12:51

@MeetMeOnTheCorner I won't be! I've found a hat designer reasonably local so have an appointment and will get her advice and options!
