Sagging jawline and neck

I don't want a neck lift. Too invasive and too scared.

I have an enlarged thyroid with U3 nodules, and also a past pariotidectomy 9 years ago so I have to be careful with treatments, ie, HIFU, RF microneedling. My options are limited but I hate my sagging chin and neck.

What can I try to improve the sagging areas?
Does at home red light device work? I would be happy if any improvements.

I've been astonished at how much of a different the Prai creams have made to my sagging/wrinkly neck. Very costly but often lots of money off (tkmaxx, boots had half price a few weeks ago, prai themselves of you sign up for emails). I was expecting snake oil but it genuinely has done a remarkable job on smoothing and lifting/tightening the skin on my 64 year old neck.

Sorry that does read like a review, and a fake one at that! But I am genuinely amazed by how effective it is.

Is it the jawline uplift serum you've been using? I see they do separate creams for neck and décolletage and they indeed aren't cheap.

Allseeingallknowing · 04/10/2026 12:30

Prai made no difference to me, it’s just an expensive moisturiser.

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 12:52

Thank you. I'm using Prai Ageless Jawline Uplift Serum for a couple of weeks so no results yet.

When I said sagging jawline, I meant sagging like a double chin. Lots of verticle lines in neck too.

You’d be better off doing facial exercises regularly, loads on YouTube.

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 16:03

@Allseeingallknowing do they work? I'm in my mid 50s so I guess it's due to lack of collagen?

How does Prai scan on the Yuka App does anyone know please? Is it full of dodgies?

Wisterical · 04/10/2026 17:03

I've been using the Prai Ageless Throat & Decolletage night cream before bed, then in the mornings the Ageless Throat & Decolletage serum in a big tube with a kind of ball hearing roller dispenser, you sort of massage it on.

Been using for three months and the improvement in the first fortnight was remarkable, now it's less dramatic but the sagging and wrinkles are far fewer and haven't returned. I mean I do still obviously have an older womans neck but nowhere near as turkey-like as it was a few weeks ago.

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 17:41

@Wisterical do you have before and after photos? This gives me hope!

Edited

Yes, but you have to be consistent . Sagging is due to collagen, muscle, fat loss and bone shrinkage. Depressing, isn’t it? You could also try good quality LED mask and Tretinoin.

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 19:04

@Allseeingallknowing I do want to try a red light device but not sure if I can due to my thyroid issues.

Do you do face exercises? Which one do you recommend for sagging chin?

J-plasma/Renuvion are best if you’re not ready for a neck lift.

Little pain and downtime but great results lasting 5 years or more.

Dont waste your money on creams.

These are very straightforward. Don’t expect miracles, but it’s a little workout for your face.

This sounds good but is very expensive, about £4000!

This might be obvious so apologies if it is.

If you have a double chin, should you try to lose weight first?

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 21:39

@blueshoes I'm not overweight at all. My BMI is 22. Maybe just loose skin.

I see. BMI 22 is slim.

Don't mind me asking how old are you?

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 21:54

@blueshoes I'm 56. My mum and sister have beautiful jawline and neck. All my female relatives the same. I'm the only one with sagging.

Full face botox lifts everything, get it done every 3 months plus threads if needed

I think your enlarged thyroid with U3 nodules and past pariotidectomy could be the cause of your sagging neck and loose skin.

You are right to be cautious about invasive treatments such as a necklift and energy devices (including J-Plasma / Renuvion). I would also be cautious about botox because your previous treatment and any scar tissue may have distorted your neck anatomy and the position of your facial nerves. You don't want a crooked smile, drooling, or an asymmetrical face that lasts for 3 to 4 months.

I would avoid threads at all costs, even without your past treatments. Cosmetic surgeons warn against threads. They don't even last long.

I think jaw and neck exercises should be fine and any skin surface treatment like Tret or Prai creams but I cannot see how they will significantly improve sagging. Even without your past medical history, the only real solution for a sagging neck is a neck lift and at your age, combined with a full face lift for symmetry.

Can you ask an ENT surgeon what is safe?

Here for tips

LavendarPink · 04/10/2026 23:00

@blueshoes my options are limited. I really don't want a face and neck lift as it's too invasive.

Is it safe for me to use a at home red light therapy or a microcurrent device if I avoid the thyroid area and my paroitid gland? Is it effective at all?

Btw, you sound so knowlegable, do you work in healthcare?

Me too - mine is better than most at 64 but it’s still lined and a bit saggy and very obviously not what it was!!! Although on the upside my double chin has massively improved since losing 3 stone ( but still 12 st 12)
